David, apologies for bunging this in here, but as it is "Eagle" related it could not go under 'general'.
Anyway, as there seems to be a lull in anything to talk/discuss/argue about, what views do people have regarding their all time "Dream Team"?
Always good for a bit of debate!
Just to kick things off, how about these 7 blasts from the past?
1/ Gordon Kennett. (THE master of Arlington, in my humble opinion)
2/ Paul Woods.
3/ Colin Richardson.
4/ Nicki Pederson.
5/ Mike Sampson.
6/ Martin Dugard.
7/ Simon Gustaffson.
A pretty good line-up, one that would more than hold its' own today, some classics, mixed with more recent 'legends', and a current rider who may just have the potential, and much more important, the attitude and temperement, to become a very, very, good rider.
Over to you folks, the choice is yours |

How about this one for never a dull moment speedway!
1. Gordon Kennett
2. Dave Jessup
3. Nicki Pederson
4. Mark Loram
5. Martin Dugard
6. Dave Norris
7. Kelly Moran
What a pleasure it was to have seen them all wearing the Eagle. |

I would have to have two teams in a challenge match to be able to include my favourites. I can't get down to just seven riders and I appologise for those I've left out...
Locals
1 Gordon Kennett
2 Neil Middleditch
3 Colin Richardson
4 Martin Dugard
5 Mike Sampson
6 Dave Kennett
7 Andy Buck
8 Malcolm Ballard
Imports
1 Ivan Mauger
2 Bobby Scawtz
3 Ron Preston
4 Niki Pedersen
5 Kelly Moran
6 Kai Niemi
7 Dave Jessop
8 Ross Gilbertson
(I think the reason for Eagles decline in recent years is the lack of a hero/number 1 in the team. Arlington would have been packed out with a few more of these recently) |

eagle1971 , i completely agree with your last paragraph .realise expenditure is a problem , but without such a rider , so will income be and probably sponorship too .a revised and shorter elite programme seems the only solution to this problem . |
