|

So as things hot up with the excellent '100 club', a new "promoter" is shoehorned into position, (or is it still BD but with a frontman? ), the rumour mill has started with new faces for the team already being mentioned.
Next door are mentioning rumours that a certain Mr Hans Andersen is being discussed as an Eagle for 2010.
IF that is so, I reckon that would not be a bad signing, proven no 1, not a bad team man, and a personality as well.
Still, all hypothetical at this stage; a lot of "Ts'" and "Is'" to be crossed and dotted, not the least the promoters self congratulation festival next month |

Just a thought;
Prior to NP riding for us, how many of us thought we would be supporters of him?
He is now a "local hero".
Just imagine, April 2010, last heat decider against the Pirates, Andersen produces a last bend surge round the Poole riders to clinch a home win; the whole stadium would be cheering him.
Times change and IF we are on track next season we will need a sound proven no 1 rider.
But, as earlier said, a bucket load of "ifs" and "buts" to be sorted out before we can enter the fantasy land of daydreaming about our "dream team" |

Must admit I was not a supporter of NP when he first arrived but when he became a little gentler with opposition I changed my mind. _________________ click here for the latest front page news |

I will admit I didn't like Nicki when he first joined and he is now one of my all time favourites but that was more to do with his early riding style and when he joined I didn't really know much about him in terms of his personality etc, whereas I've seen enough of Hans to know I would never support a team with him in it! Harsh? maybe but thats how I feel. There has been one other rider who briefly joined us a few years ago who I also never cheared but it didn't stop me supporting the team. I don't think I could do that if Hans joined us. _________________ Check out my Pic's site. Click on WWW below... |

theres a few riders I dont like much.
Hans is one of them but they could sign all of my least favorite riders and I would still support the team.
I would much prefer Nicki but any out and out number one will do me. |

Eagles have signed many riders in the past who were not my cup of tea, suprisingly a fair percentage of them being English, but surely the club and the team should always come before personal likes and dislikes.
The riders come and go but the club (hopefully) remains.
And surely most of you would agree that should we survive into 2010, then one of our priorities must be a reliable and high scoring no.1.
Ok, I'm sure most of us would have Nicki as our first choice, but should that not come to pass, for whatever reason, there aint that many of a similar quality left to choose from. |

Im not a particularly great fan of Hans Andersen but he is a winner, doesnt like losing and I think thats the type of rider you need at no1,something we lacked last season. If the club is looking at someone like Andersen at least it shows some ambition for next season. _________________ A Founder Member of the Home Straight Lukas Dryml Appreciation Society! |

I agree although it seems he is on nearly everyone's list for next year. |

so who will decide number one if all goes ok ?! not trevor hopefully . that leaves bellamy and BD at the moment .
how many eagles does turner engineering sponsor individually ? would they have a say ? bound to be about the costs , but if the right number one is selected it would make a huge difference to the attendances/income . just hope that is considered . |

Hans Andersen would be a very good signing. He's a quality number one who scores 14's and 15's which is what we need.
We need to wait for the annual meeting now and I hope the points limit goes up and not down. |

the promotion must surely realise that nicky is THE one to bring the crowds back , to think he was cheaper than richardson !!! he is the only golden eagle number one still riding . they want fans , then give them what will bring them to arlington . |

| Agree Ray. Quite incredible that anyone would pay more for Richardson than for Nicki P. Makes you wonder what Lakeside pay. However, Nicki is older and probably wiser now. My guess is, that if EB run next year, neither Andersen nor Pedersen will ride for them. The money simply will not be there. Unless of course there is someone out there who has loads of dosh and a yen to work with Mr BD. |

hope the sugar daddy is found emjay. have read official website , that £ 30,000 has been promised seems incredible . but now all we can do is wait and hope .i too was not sure of nicky , and losing mark loram was a high price to pay .but like mark , martin and others golden eagles he had us leaping out of our seats , and there back in them the following week .eagles flew and so did we . richardson and nichiolls never did that . heat 15 with david and nicky , worth the admission money alone .that drive home seemed so smooth and quick , still on a high . wonderful , all those golden eagles over those wonderful years . |

| Yes, a real No 1 certainly does give a team, and its supporters, a buzz. A few seasons back it looked like Lewis would become one such. I hope he will. He still has time. But maybe not with EB....... |

think you're right emjay . guess he has to spread his wings , with a fresh start . remember martin , floppy and deano did this too , and they came back for those golden years . maybe this could happen with lewis , time will tell .eagles need nicky more than lewis if we are going to stay in the elite . so do the fans , so will the sponsors . |

Well, I suppose pretty much everything depends on what these polymaths at the BSPA come up with at their annual beanfeast. I must have been asleep somewhere, or not paying attention, because I have no idea when this great event takes place. No doubt someone who has been paying more attention will put me straight. Guess I'm just an old f**t, well past his sell by date!!
Anyway (and apologies SussexB for this being off thread) I've just heard that my two sons have booked a family hol in the Lake District in late April. So I'll be off to Workington on the Saturday night. Probably take my grandson, who will find the wide open spaces and high speeds of the Worky bowl a bit of a change after EB. Can't wait!! |

Speedway Star says if the Eagles run in 2010 they will be looking to track a big-hitting No 1.
