Eaglevision I think thats a fair assessment. I believe another contributing factor was alcohol, certain few seemed to have consumed shall we say to much. Much as Lewis has considerable talent I believe he needs to go to another club reasons being I think he become to familiar with it at Eastbourne, Trevor probably doesnt exert the same sort of discipline within the team as say Peter Adams would, I think the Watt saga would highlight that. I certainly hope that in the not to distant future we would look to build a team built around Lewis that included Simon, Ricky and possibly Cameron, but not next season if we race. I dont hold Lewis responsible for the fracas nearly every member of the team was involved and he was just part of it. _________________ A Founder Member of the Home Straight Lukas Dryml Appreciation Society! |

Pirates: Ford hoping for peace between Bridger and Batchelor
By Neil Meldrum
MATT Ford is hoping there will be no “afters” between Troy Batchelor and Lewis Bridger when the two riders again go head-to-head at Wimborne Road tonight.
Batchelor and Bridger were both allegedly involved in a mass brawl at Eastbourne on Saturday night, following Eagles’ 47-43 Draper Tools Trophy first-leg win.
According to several eyewitness accounts, the grandfather of Eagles star Bridger approached Pirates guest Batchelor following heat 15 and was pushed away by the Aussie rider.
Batchelor was then allegedly set upon by several members of the Eagles pit crew, including Bridger, Lukas Dryml and injured Eagle David Norris, who was attending the meeting socially.
It is believed there is bad blood between Norris and Batchelor. The Eagle missed nearly all the Elite League campaign following a horror crash involving the Swindon ace in May, which had left him with third degree burns to an arm.
Ford will again use Batchelor as a guest for the second leg of the trophy tonight (7pm), with Poole Castle Cover also taking on Ipswich in the second leg of the Coastal Windows Challenge.
The Poole co-promoter told the Echo: “It’s not for me to judge who was at fault for the incident on Saturday, but David Norris, who was there socially, obviously felt the need to make his feelings clear towards Troy.
“I have spoken to Troy and he has said he wants to put it all behind him and carry on racing.
“But you could sense that things weren’t right on Saturday. He was only guesting for us so there is no problem between Eastbourne and Poole as clubs.
“Unfortunately, one or two other people decided to get involved in something which seems to be between Troy and David. Lewis Bridger’s grandad was apparently involved and I know Eastbourne have told him not to attend the meeting at Wimborne Road tonight.
“I’m not telling him – Eastbourne are. Trevor Geer (Eagles manager) has confirmed that to me.
“The last thing we want is for anything like that to happen in front of our crowd. It was a very unfortunate scene at Eastbourne as children saw it and they were frightened by what went on.
“But when Lewis and Troy go on track together tonight I don’t expect any afters. They are professionals and I want to see them race fairly.”
It is understood Martin Dugard, son of Eagles promoter Bob, wrestled Bridger’s grandfather to the ground in a bid to halt the pit brawl, which followed the widely-publicised punch-up between Scott Nicholls and Emil Sayfutdinov at the British Grand Prix earlier this season.
Ford added: “The sport is in danger of becoming rugby. The next thing will be riders slamming each other into fences and it is ridiculous.
“You do get incidents like this in sport from time to time – the only difference this time was that it involved people who weren’t even riding.
“People have got to understand that if they are representing a rider in the pits at a meeting then they are also representing the club.
“Bob Dugard will not be happy about any of this because he doesn’t want it at his club.”
