Speedway Star says.......Ole Olsen is standing down as Race Director of the SGP to take up a new post as FIM Speedway Director of Sport from next season.

There's been a lot of moans about the tracks being too flat. I wonder if a new guy will improve things next year?

it's not just olsen's hopelessness at seeing the riders get decent tracks , but his sheer arrogance . i  recorded the last two GPs , then
fast forward , even over part of some of the so called races when they became processions .really only watch them coz of nicki . not the kind of speedway that attracts me now . too much waffle in studio , same old faces , and olsen's tracks .can be really boring  Rolling Eyes watching the wolves v swindon ----now that IS speedway Very Happy

Tony Olsson is taking over from Ole. All we can hope is that the tracks will be better, overtaking and not just a procession. Tony Olsson has been with Ole all year "learning the job". Ole Olsen has been given a new job, a new position has been created "FIM Speedway Director of Sport". It is going to be his responsibility to "drive the development and expansion of the SGP's". In other words they are talking about more GP's, probably Australia, New Zealand and maybe Asia. At least the last three could be ridden outside of the European season. Remember the last Australian GP, a complete no no as far as the Aussies were concerned. Strikes me BSI and the FIM could be getting greedy wanting more GP's. If they are not careful they could find that the goose that lay the golden egg stops materialising. Crowds have been down this year in the GP's,.as well as league racing. It seems that the people concerned do not care about league racing, which is the grass roots of the sport. Without league racing the riders will not be their.

Well said Aussie2.  I thought the days of circuses were over.  Not this one apparently.  I wonder about a middle east GP.  No shortage of loose surface and no worries about the weather.

like the camels , we might get " the hump " lol .we had one GP surface of rubber , was white like talc . what surface apart from sand would be available in this part of the world . are there any speedway fans there , have they ever heard of speedway , let   alone GP speedway .the possible attendance figure would make  it obviously a non-starter . this GP" circus " seems to want to emulate the EU , both have the maniacal desire to control without ever seeking our opinion or permission .  the so-called prime ministers and their actions are another matter --- don't start me on that  Rolling Eyes those who crave power should be denied it . ohmigawd yet again i have " gone off on one " , time for tablets and a darkened room with padded wallpaper  Embarassed  Rolling Eyes
