If we're to have any chance of this late push for the play-offs that Bob and Trevor keep talking about then 3 points from this one is a must.

Looking at the line ups.... and providing our "top" reserve pairing get their fingers out... that shouldn't be beyond the bounds of possibility.

True if we take the positives out of last nights performance and really give it a go, dont rely solely on the guests then we have a good chance.  Need the crowd to create that partisan spirit Coventrys Trump spoke about when we hammered them Razz

Frankly I am absolutely fed up to the back teeth, with having to watch underperforming riders going through the motions when guesting for our Heat Leaders.
Scornicki was a absolute disgrace tonight,Klindt was poor, Hansen was a joke last time. Only McGowan has been anything like an adequate replacement for our guys.

I cannot understand why we insist on running meetings when our best guys aren't available. How can it make sense to keep running meetings on Saturdays, when we are going to lose because we can't field our best team. Can someone explain why we can't move some meetings to other nights as necessary to avoid this farce ?.

I cannot believe it's financially a problem, as when we have top riders missing the crowds are low, we lose the meeting, and as a result lose further support as we slip down the league.
Surely it doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out before the season starts when we are likely have riders away from the ludicrously extensive GP qualifiers and Under 21 qualifiers. Not to mention such utter nonsense meetings as the Under 21 World Cup.

If they had moved it to Monday the crowd would probably  been as big as last nights if not bigger with a full team. Before the meeting, although not my choice as guests I thought they were both capable of picking up a dozen points between them but as Tweagle posts Skornicki looked like he never been on a bike before. Last  night was another meeting thrown away, how many more will the dwiddling fans have to endure before the season ends. Trevor, who I believe was a poor choice of Manager in the first place said he'd been on the phone constantly from Monday to Wednesday trying to get guests. Why leave it until monday we knew a few weeks ago this scenario would occur. We still havent got a replacement for Floppy, Walasek will lets us know in the next 3 weeks whether he will commit to us . What if at the end the three weeks he says no.. have we an alterative lined up?. I doubt it, we always seem to put all our eggs in one basket. Rolling Eyes

Again wasn't the best crowd there again last night. The team need support from us in this bad patch. If we don't support the team we will close next year. We missed Lukas Dryml last night and Davey. Don't know what up with simon at the min he seem to be going down hill. Let hope the new signing comes quick coz we need a fresh face in the team.

teams with hopelessly inadequate team managers , at any sport , inevitably go downhill , and attendances diminish .that's why the are replaced . as for his predictions , rather like alistair darling's . Sad

You honestly think Walasek is the answer to Eastbourne's problems, no.... he's the cheapest last option available who can fulfill the dates, we should of acted weeks ago when we had more points to play with but as we've seen and as Bob admitted it's sad to see what's happening to our club at the moment with the obvious lack of financial backing!

not suprisingly they missed out on bachelor . he was already in uk , so no costly overheads and expenditure . without a manager how do we manage ! mind you trevor is only a ray's friend --- hope it doesn't make his eyes water , on second thoughts -- why not  Idea but as posted who would even consider repeating the last three seasons , the promotions never made it to a second year , as this one is not going to--- and that has been announced officially . BD has already mentioned eagles may well " take a year out " next season . all three promotions made heavy losses . think a prospective promoter would notice that . Rolling Eyes  Shocked  Wink

Why have we lost 2 home meetings mainly due to having to rely on inadequate guests?

Because the club have once again allowed the R/R situation to drag on... and on... and on... and on.

Let's not forget that with the new 42 point limit we've had close to 8 points available to bring in a replacement.

You'd have thought they'd have learnt by now.

No ambition... no drive... no foresight... no common sense... and sadly possibly no future.

and one time fans make alternative choices , hardly suprising with a third season in a row being so disappointing mainly through the lack of  management and promotional skills and  even knowing what is required . Shocked  Surprised  Confused  Sad

Im sure ray is perfectly capable of defending himself citrus.....

But I'd be interested to hear how you could put a positive slant on what has been going on over the last month or so.

thought citrus was a sour or acidic taste , what made you chose it ? that should say a lot about you . most of my criticism is constructive , and if i , and so many other posters didn't care , we would not be so disappointed and express our feelings . as for hammers , well wish we had cook back , we just havenot replaced him . we didn't always appreciate him or realise what we had lost , but these three seasons have  made most of us realise . adam will always be a favourite , joonas too .but then that is speedway unfortunately .with the rules , regulations , and changes , outsiders must find it difficult to comprehend . one of my themes is how any new promoter would decide to continue in the elite when they see what it has cost the last three who took this on . do you not see this ? have you anything positive to post about this or other matters ? will be most intrested to see your answer to COUS' question .hope you don't drop too many stitches .

The truth is that most fans feel upset and let down by the antics of Sky, the BSPA and to some extent the management.

However I do not think personal attacks on individuals are justified and hence my earlier comment.  The man Ray hates so much ran speedway here for a time when nobody else wanted the job.

Bob Brimson came in and suffered terrible misfortunes which would have broken most people.  Martin Hagon followed and the result caused a family row.

Who will pick up the poisoned chalice ?

My guess is nobody and this will be the last season at Arlington.

The only possibility that I see would be someone like TR.

It has to be a person with plenty of money to invest and/or lose.

good post sussex to which i agree but still hope someone can rescue the eagles damn sky and the bspa surely the sport should be run  by independant body not people with vested interests in certain clubs and as for sky well words fail me

Before we knock Sky to much BD on one of his trackside interviews  when he told the faithful that he was standing down and looking for  a new promoter  he stated that the money now recieved from Sky was good.  The club has lacked  promotion for the last 3 seasons Brimson started full of good intent and after only a couple of days his Team Manager resigned and he  took on Trevor Geer as Team Manager  Hagon  continued with Trevor and BD even made him co promoter.Trevor an honorable man liked by all but hardly likely to lead a side out of the trenches is not solely responsible but must take much of the criticism relating to Team matters and this continued use of R/R for 3 seasons now. Since Cook left promoting the club and finding a sponsor has to most been non existent and wasnt even great before Cook left. This has been airred time and again on here, and now we have  the biggest recession of recent times Add to that the BSPA and we have a recipe for disaster. To be honest I dont think Terry Russell is really any more to blame than anyone else for the state we are in.

They mention in the Star that Tony Steele could become an Independant figure taking charge of Key decisions. I think speedway needs a full independent body running it, not just one man .Just think of the pressure Ford and Pratt could exert on Steele.
