I dont expect 18 points every meeting from floppy kev but i do expect more then 5 from a rider in a heat leader role home and away, fair enough he has had his knocks and head injuries in the past but it was his decission to make a comeback it was not forced upon him. If during the winter months bob dugard had reveled the team but to say at the same time its gonna take floppy 10 meetings to get going again so expect some poor displays possiable some defeats and a cost of a play off spot, would of that been accepted by us fans? I dont think so. So why should it be now.

Floppy, I still say he should be cut some slack after his injuries, being sentimental, but I am also still of the opinion that he should not be back on track, either. I have to ask what people expect from a rider who suffered head injuries resulting in major "balance" problems and has been out of the saddle for 18 months, and before that not really in a fit state to ride on occasions?
18 point maximums each meeting
I have to ask whether youve seen Floppy ride this season hes certainly not the floppy of old and regretably probable never will be.
How much slack he is given is down to BD & TG but racing him at 5 I think puts to much pressure on him. Last night in his heats he was up against Richardson, Kylmakorpi,Shields, but you would have expected him to have beaten Daviddson who picked up his only 2 points of the evening against Floppy. Another added pressure is that in 2 of his heats he rides with Ricky Kling who himself is struggling although he looked a bit better last night but we only ever seem to pick up 1pt in those heats. I dont know what others thought but Floppy looked agitated when at the tapes, frustrated with usual amount of time riders take to come to the line I suppose its a problem of only having 2 heat leaders doesnt give us many options. On a brighter note Lukas had a good meeting and I'm beginning to warm to him I thought he started to look at home on the track _________________ A Founder Member of the Home Straight Lukas Dryml Appreciation Society!
If the pundits were right we should have lost all four meetings so far. We have won 3 and lost badly in the fourth.
I agree Floppy isn't currently right up to the mark for a number 5 but I thought he was a littlle better last night. He tends to get picked off at the entry to bend 1 even if he gates decently, however it's hardly surprising he is a little wary of first bend bunching. He has faced the opposition big guns in a lot of his outings so I am not too concerned at present. It's bound to take time.I agree there is case for swapping Floppy with Cameron in the line up. It must be worth trying.
I thought Lukas was massively improved last night and that must augur well for future home matches.
I can't see us losing many home fixtures. Lakeside are clearly a possible title contender yet they never threatened to come close.
opinion seems that floppy should not be riding at 5 at this time , and pairing with kling is weak .so BD and TG are you of the same opinion ? only 1 and 6&7 positions are mandatory, so let us see your team management show you are up to it . next week belle vue , rememer james getting his best ever score . well they are no stronger this year .good time to try new pairings perhaps ?!

As you very well know, Parker, I have'nt seen him ride this season.
Your very well put comments only add to the second part of my opening sentence concerning him, personally I am still of the opinion he should not be back on track.
I also said, way back when his comeback was announced, how much of this was his decision, and how much of this was influenced "elsewhere" by other parties knowing that he missed racing, and having an eye on the possible extra "bums on seats" his presence may generate.
Not very well received in some quarters
Floppy is hugely popular, but surely, with a young family, a career lined up, if any careers are safe in this current climate, WHY take the risk to his health that another bad crash could bring?
And there is always that other point for a sportsman, end your career on your terms, by leaving your fans with good memories of you, not their final memory of someone trying to recapture former greatness, and failing.
I'm not advocating ditching Floppy certainly not after only 4 meetings but having him at 5 is asking too much of him especially with Ricky Kling paired with him twice. Ricky I thought showed a little improvement last night. If Dave is to stay at 5 would it be worth while swapping the reserves around. As for Kevins post I think only Floppy can make the call when to call it a day. I agree with Tweagle that we will be hard to beat at home we've only had one bad meeting and then 3 riders rode very well that night. It is early days, to soon to make kneejerk reactions especially before the league season starts we've had 3 wins out of 4 against teams considered stronger than us.
I've no doubt the team manager will give due thought to all the useful advice we've given him
On a downside not a good crowd probable due to the weather and the previous nights result. _________________ A Founder Member of the Home Straight Lukas Dryml Appreciation Society!
so will the pairings be changed next saturday , as many think they should , as posted , it would seem the ideal time to try this . won't hold my breath though . will actually see for myself at last . now the car and i have passed our MOTs .
think you are right , floppy will put bums on seats [ even those now bringing their own ] . apparently no one collecting the £1 at the grandstand at the poole match , was there last night ?
Normally i have to agree with what people say on here but sorry not this time.
1--- we were just unlucky that the KOC 1st round was so early this year, normally it would have been a few ch matches, craven shield etc.
2-- Im lost for words about the negative words on floppy.yes he isnt riding at his best, and yes he should be moved from riding at 5,but at this stage of the season i cant understand even questioning floppys comeback. The only way after 18 months out is to get races under your belt and he already shown he can win races.Take the pressure off him and let him settle back in,watching floppy and barker in the pits creates a positive vibe and with dryml as well an upbeat person the team spirit is great.whatever floppy does this season is a bonus, but at the moment the last thing on my mind is to say anything abbout floppy at this very early stage.

He certainly did, I watched from near the start line last night (not the grandstand! and yes there were people collect the £1's both last night and at the Poole meeting) and he was getting increasinly wound up by Richardson who was taking the p in the amount of time he took to line up, in 2 races Floppy let him get to him turning round and shaking his head at Lee, maybe that had an effect on his race?

Here's my suggestion....
1. Davey
2. Floppy
3. Lukas
4. Cameron
5. Lewis
6. Ricky (or Denis if Ricky don't get his finger out pretty quick)
7. Simon
I said the same last night, I'd have this line up certainly at home and with home teams having to declare first I'd change it around to suit away from home. At the moment it looks like NO tactical choices are being made and where have we seen that before?! _________________ Check out my Pic's site. Click on WWW below...
I am inclined to agree about the splitting the pairing up of Floppy and Ricky, both riders have had awful injuries too come back from and Floppy has been out of the saddle longer. Just to take the pressure of off them so soon into the season. I also think moving Floppy to the 2 or 4th berth and swapping the reserves around could be more fruitful.
One question...... as I dont get the Speedway Star and as such, miss out on most of the goss, but why is it that Poole have a bye in Cup tournament? it seems to me that for arguments sake they could win that and are through to the quarters. Apologies if the question has been posted elsewhere.
I would have thought that the cup winners would have a better argument to have that....irrespective of how we finished last night!
yes MrB, team management is vital . with the new rules we should be considering the opponents strengths and weaknesses , and putting our team in the appropriate formation . only 4 matches , and only one poor one , we always get one or two of those , sometimes more , a season .
as for floppy , think most of us are concerned and expecting too much too soon . of course we worry about him , because he is special to all of us . our wounded hero . getting unsettled at times , perfectly natural , he doesn't want to let us , or himself , down . we must understand and appreciate that . he is our floppy , and he is very special . be there for him , show you care , you can do that in the pits before the match . we are his fans , we must also be his , and the team's supporters .
sorry to hear the grandstand is guarded by the secret police . i find that very annoying , think most of us do . well my new seat will be christened on saturday . thought only corrupt and useless politicians lost their seats

I dont think any of us want Floppy dropped, just tinker with the order to take some of the pressure of him, and I'm sure hes an asset in the pits. As its been posted earlier we've won 3 out of 4 meetings against sides most expected us to lose to, not a bad start. _________________ A Founder Member of the Home Straight Lukas Dryml Appreciation Society!
Had my first visit to Arlington last night and sat on my new seat just before the third bend.
I agree that Floppy should be moved from 5 and preferably to 2 with Lewis going to 5 and Cam to 3.
The track conditions seemed poor to me but with the rain I guess they were probably as good as you can expect. This could have played into Adam's and JK's advantage though ?
so in the heat where floppy and the other 3 slowed and virtually stopped it was because the riders saw a red light ----- from a video camera ! flashlight photography is also not only dangerous , but forbidden . so think it time the transgressors are made fully aware of this as they constantly ignore the announcement to that effect . . we british are so docile about almost everything , but let us stand up for our speedway at least .

This is not the first time this has happened, perhaps it is time to ban all videos and cameras from meetings. I know this will hit the people who use this equipment responsibly. We do no want any rider to have an accident because of the stupid behavior of some people. The alternative is to throw them out, and warned as to their future behavior. We must give Floppy time to settle down, I know he does not like riding at number 5. The answer could be to move Lewis to 5 and Floppy to three. _________________ Supporting the Eagles through the good times as well as the bad
there are responsible people , on this website , that we are very grateful to for their excellent pics , so a total ban would not be right or fair . but we have all seen the red lights flashing during the racing , the riders see them too . these are the ones who need " educating " , now so many of us are no longer cut off in the grandstand we can assist with that " education "
As far as we could see the light was not from a camera. We sit in the main grandstand and could see a red light behind the 4th bend fencing which looked like a rear red cycle light. Seemed strange that all four riders pulled up and no action taken although did see hammer team waving their team on to continue riding. Some people just don't understand the danger of the sport! idiots.
that's where i have seen it over several seasons travelator , when i was in the grandstand , we all were suprised and annoyed at the thoughtless action . the announcement requested those responsible ceased . usually it did , but some meetings later it would happen again , and then the same announcement . so never considered anything but what the announcer said . have seen it , and flash photography between the first and second bends also .
as no longer in the grandstand i , and others will likely investigate further occurences , but sincerely hope there are none . have to wonder if others near to the source of the problem didnot notice it . but there are , as you say , always irresponsible idiots . so we shall see . these people should be warned officially that they will be evicted , and such should be done if they continue to do so .hopefully the management and stewards will see to this if necessary . but one way or another it cannot be allowed to continue .
