Well, if the present team can beat Poole home and away, they can beat anyone.   To our great pleasure, they have already made fools of the so called experts ( God save us from experts).  And all that without the mighty talents of Nicholls, Richardson and Kennett.
If they all click together, no one is safe.

I think team spirit will play a huge part this season and if that survives in the pits then look out.  I really think the lack of it last season played a part.  We are capable of beating anyone despite what the "experts" say.  Good luck to the guys this weekend you can do it.

Swindon seem to get all the good young Aussie Assets probably due to the Lee Adams connection I'm not advocating doing away with assets or riders being Free agents much for the reason you've given. We have to admit that with the current averages changing every season its very hard to build a team for the future you cant really look any further than one season. Getting back to the thread what sort of reception will Lee recieve from the Home fans?

I hope it will be a good reception bearing in mind he was the captain and did no wrong for us.

Yes I agree with that.  Apparently changed his mind about riding in UK after persuasion by Martin Hagon but we already had our team lined up.

If the weather doesn't beat us I can see Lakeside will. We can say thing last we have a good reserve's, Floppy back and Lewis going good. But what counts at the end of the day is results on track and after yesterday I can't see us getting one today. Dryml is not going well at all, Floppy is riding ok but just not getting the point which he deserve. Kling doesn't seem to be the rider we know he can be and Cam isn't riding last season. If it was for Davey, Lewis and Simon we wouldn't had got the points we did last night. I think that the riders need our support tonight coz  it going to be a tough one for them.

I agree with this. I think we are going to need a certain Russian sooner rather than later. Hope he's studying his Russo/ English dictionary !. Very Happy
Weather looks bad from West Kent - I can't see it being on unless it's better at Sussex by the Sea. Confused

I think it will be,scored well for us although I can hardly see us cheering if he wins Like wise for Shields when he's come back as a guest he's done ok. Cant agree with Kopster that Floppys riding ok, to be fair he had a poor meeting last night as did half the team but you could tell by his body language he was'nt happy with the way things were going. We need him to at least make his average and he's well capable of that. I would hope to see all the team step up to the mark tonight we've nothing to lose now and anythings possible.

Well, at the moment it is windy, cold and sunny here, 5 miles from the track.

Blue sky and sunshine at the mo in Mid Sussex, can't see a problem with the weather. As for the fixture, it's probably over now but a win on the night would be nice!

Incidently why is this first round being held so early in the season. For teams who dont really have a chance in the league and go out in this round the season is virtually over after 1 or 2 meetings! Surprised

Im gonna take some flack here but im concered with norris, we will wait and see if bob is as good as his word when saying he will make changes if a rider dont perform, (cant see it myself) starting to think norris should have come back in some sort of mangement role at eastbourne and not as a rider

A bit better than last night but we're out of the cup thanks to the terrible performance in the away leg... which leads me to my first rant of the 2009 season...

How can a team that was put together based on strength in depth and carrying no passengers put up with 4 of it's members contributing a total of 4 points between them?

That just aint good enough.

I've read remarks on other threads like... we know this rider will come good... or... that rider is still finding his feet... or... the other rider just needs some confidence.

But how long are we prepared to wait for these things to happen?

Bob Dugard said at the start of the season that below par performances would not be tolerated and if required changes would be made.

How long will his patience hold?

We're already out of one of the major competitions and if we come up with a couple of dodgy league results while we're still waiting for riders to "come good" or "find their feet" or "get some confidence" the season could be as good as over before the end of April.

Should that happen, rather than complaining about attendances of 970, Mr Dugard might find himself praying for them!!

And while I'm having a moan... would Mr Geer please have a serious look at the teams riding order. At the moment it looks totally out of whack and unbalanced to me. Floppy should NOT be riding at no.5.

Fair point COUS, but Lakeside is not one of our favourite tracks in recent years, and let's face it, with the abysmal performance on Friday it would have taken something like half the Lakeside team failing to turn up for us to go through Exclamation  Exclamation

Plus points Question
We won.
Lukas, I've criticised him, but he got 8 points, 2 wins including one over Shields, well done.

Minus points Question
We're out of the cup, almost a re-run of what happened last time we won it.
Floppy, I still say he should be cut some slack after his injuries, being sentimental, but I am also still of the opinion that he should not be back on track, either. I have to ask what people expect from a rider who suffered head injuries resulting in major "balance" problems and has been out of the saddle for 18 months, and before that not really in a fit state to ride on occasions?
18 point maximums each meeting Exclamation  Rolling Eyes

This team has far better potential than the so called "pundits" give them credit for.
Look at Poole, tipped for the top 2, and in turmoil at present with virtually the whole team being mauled in their forum, except for Screeny.

Simon has started well, Bridger is a vast improvement so far, Davey has just proved what we expected, hopefully Lukas will shove my criticism back down my throat, and now the cup is out of the way the others can fully focus on their form with "just" the league to concentrate on.

Here endeth the Sunday Sermon Exclamation  Wink  Wink

At home I think we should move Cameron from two as presently he's finished his rides after heat ten. Maybe he would be better off at four with Lukas at two.
Daves had three home meetings now. He's started off with a win each time then nothing really afterwards. Nothing away either.
It looks as if the KO Cup has been used as a warmup for the league this season. However, the league is now starting and we need a new number five in the team as we are lacking something.
Who's available though?
