I would love to see Nicki back at Eastbourne. He always had times for the fans before the meeting, but was totally focused during the match. Many people said that Nicki would not team ride, but how many could keep up with him. Question He would certainly put bums on seats, most fans would come to see if anybody could beat him. The only trouble is that Nicki's average would be very high.

As a matter of interest what would his average be?  I'm trying to build a team to include him.

I wouldn't bother, we cannot afford him. In fact I doubt if any team in the Elite League could afford him right now.

I repeat

Money, Yes Nicki has done a deal in Sweden involving a great deal of money, That does not mean he would be expensive over here, He is a business man and 'pitches' his services at a price the market can withstand, he has alway done deals that meant he was paid what he earned, unlike some such as Greg who did mega deals and then was left owing thousands upon thousands by his last two promotions. Eastbourne did not discuss terms with NIcki at all before last season, they just emailed him to tell him his services were not required, at a time when it was too late for him to get fixed up in the UK.

If that is so that is a disgraceful way to treat any rider, let alone one who always gave his best to the club.

That is such a bad way to treat a fan favorite who pulls in the crowds. He was the best rider we've had since Martin Dugard and we treat him like he was something on the bottom of your shoe. I don't blame him now if he said to us no I am not riding for you anymore.

Come on if we had had Pedersen in the team last year we would have had cardboard cut outs riding at six and seven because of the averages. We did win the cup in the end as well.

Well theres always two sides to every story but I do see that theres to be a benefit for Dean Barker this coming season, which unfortunately but understandably is not  included in the seaon ticket.

these never are , coz the money goes into the total benefit . riders ride for free too . i remember his previous one . the bspa rules on benefit meetings mean that david cannot have his until next year .that is petty , mean and unfair . if we want to give we should be allowed to do so . these meetings are special for all involved . in the case of these two and ando they were all seriously injured and had to retire riding for the eagles . Sad
as for nicki , i agree he was the nearest to martin dugard with a cult following . i know that some people , especially some youngsters have ceased attending . but finances are finances as we all too well are aware . butthere are acceptable and unneccessary ways of dealing with these sort of decisions . nicki holds no grudge on his website , but then he is that sort of man . yet another reason for respecting him . there are so many wonderful memories of him racing , wearing the eagle .

I have to agree with you. If Poole decide to retain Watt's services then I would put Nicki back in, 15 points every meeting pretty much guaranteed.

I have always been intrigued how his bikes are so much quicker than everyone else's (especially in GP's) from the start.

we expect to see the poole team announced torrow . maybe , and for the same reasons , bjarne will be the one to go  as AJ and maybe lindgren , or he will do a " crumpie ", then davey would stay . back to the drawing board !!

Please explain how we would pay for him?

Please explain how we would accomodate him in the team points-wise?

OK, Spannerman says he adjusts his demands according to the situation, but as world champion he is not exactly going to be the cheapest rider in the league, is he?

And anyway, the unceromonious way he was booted out of the team at the end of 2007, he is hardly likely to look at certain people in our set up with much affection.

The idea of Nicki P riding for us again, in the current climate, is totally daft.

Another has been that liked the bevvy to much, not quite good enough to win a World Cup Medal. Not like Nobby and Bobby Wink Thats the thing about Spurs you have to go back nearly pre war to when they last won a major trophy. Rolling Eyes

Have to agree with Ray about Nicki.... those were the days... Sad

And Kevin now that Barack Obama is president elect, by the time the season starts the good times should be coming back so we might see Nicki back in 2010 and be able to afford him Laughing  Wink

Ray, I was not responding to your comment, seeing Nicki in full flight in our colours was pretty darn good.

My post was in relation to the fact that people still seem to think it would be possible for him to ride for us now.

It's time for the rose tinted specs to come off

It won't happen, (unless we get sponsored by speedways' equivelant of the Arabs who just bought Man City).

He was dumped by our club, would you go back to an employer who treated you in that way?

With money, BD isn't exactly strapped for cash

Kevin54 wrote:

Quite easily, Nicki instead of Watt and a reserve instead of Darkin meaning Gustafsson riding in the main team which I am sure he can handle

Already answered that

He has clearly stated that Eastbourne will be the only British team that he would ride for.
