Interesting article in today's Argus. Headline "RICO PONDERS PULLING OUT OF ELITE LEAGUE NEXT SEASON". If he qualifies he said that it is not really possible to do the three leagues. Also he said from the financial point of view Sweden & Poland is where I earn more money. Even if he does not qualify he is still contemplating pulling out of racing here. He is also quoted as saying that the English league is now on a level with the Danish rather than the Polish & Swedish when you look at the crowds and level of competition. He has also raced in Russia, and has turned down four more lucrative bookings due to his commitments in this country. He also states that several of the top riders no longer ride in this country and that Adams & Crump choose which meetings they ride in in Sweden. I hope this article is picked up by the official and unofficial site, as it makes very interesting reading. THE BSPA SHOULD TAKE NOTE, DO WE WANT TO LOSE ALL OUR TOP RIDERS. THIS IS A REAL POSSIBILITY _________________ Supporting the Eagles through the good times as well as the bad

If he qualifies! With the averages unlikely to go up much if at all one of our top three might have to go next season anyway. and as we only loan him it might not be our loss anyway. _________________ A Founder Member of the Home Straight Lukas Dryml Appreciation Society!
Lee has also intimated in the same article that even if he does not qualify there is the possibility that he could pull out of the Elite League, and only ride abroad. Let's hope that this does not become the exodus of the top riders, if it does we can no longer say it is the "ELITE LEAGUE". _________________ Supporting the Eagles through the good times as well as the bad

I cant agree with what lee says ,if he wants to go then so be it, the clubs cant be held to ransom.I cant see him going anywhere,he doesnt ride regularly in poland ,and you have to be on song every week there or you are out because they have a squa sord system as do sweden. In this country he is guaranteed a team place and he has a young family as well so he will be a fool to give that up.Also Hagon sponsors him big time ,will he continue his support if lee is out of the country.
and his time and expenses travelling to home fixtures are not exactly a burden . but most of our team are in that position . guess will we have to wait and see and endure a multitude of rumours . think you are correct in your post speedy dan boy . but the fact remains in our speedway now very few promoters can afford to match what top riders can earn overseas i have read that five meetings in russia can earn a rider about the same as can be earned in the whole of an elite season , but this must surely mean that the rider is good enough to earn and win the relevant amount in russia against riders overall of a higher calibre in russia .
From what I have heard the points limit next year is likely to be 40.
If that is correct I think Ed would be our number 1
If this is true, then the BSPA are going to ruin our sport. They are like dinosaurs, and that age has gone. Surely we should be encouraging the top British riders to stay, not turning them away. How are we going to encourage them to stay if the BSPA keep altering the averages for each season. We need the top riders here to encourage the youngsters, and pass on their expertise. There is always going to be a top/bottom team. No team should be able to sign more than one rider with an average of 9.00. A more realistic average would be at least 42.50. We should do as they do in Sweden, all teams can have an average up to the championship team from the previous season. This encourages their own riders, which the BSPA do not seem to do. _________________ Supporting the Eagles through the good times as well as the bad
That is very bad news, losing our skipper before our biggest match of the season.
As he is not our number one, will we be denied the oppertunity of a guest for the home leg as well?
Could we not turn that cloud into a silver lining by signing a replacement for Lee on a slightly lower average leaving us room to sign a new No.7 to replace James who might actually have a chance to score a few points in the 2 legs of the Cup Final.
The only way of avoiding rider replacement would be to sign a new rider. I don't think that will happen. _________________ click here for the latest front page news

RR will be no good for the cup final if we are serious about winning it we MUST sign a replacement. Somehow on previous form I doubt we will. _________________ Check out my Pic's site. Click on WWW below...
Agree with you MrB that the activity (or lack of) from the club over the next week or so will show how serious they are about really going for a cup win.
Other clubs have shown that there are riders out there if you are prepared to make the effort to go and get them.
And if we are going to make a couple of signings they should be in place before the Wolves meeting so as to give them a go on the track before "The Big One".....
are they are back to their bad old ways ?. lakeside signed rider for play-off final , although it didn't work out points wise , at least they tried , thought it out and made an effort . not going to say anymore , no point in doing so . wish the season was over , it might be for some of us now .
On the other site Dave A says he has spoken to Martin Hagon and the news is Lee will be riding the remaining 3 meetings we have
So Lee is going to ride the last three meetings, is he FIT to do this. According to the speedway star he is still having trouble with his back, which affects his breathing. We do not want the same situation as earlier in the season, where he had to pulll out after a couple of races. Surely if there is any doubt a replacement rider should be signed. It seems as there is a "COULD NOT CARE" attitude as it is the end of the season. We want them to go all out as far as the Knoc k-Out cup is concerned. A VERY VERY sad reflection on what has been a not very successful season. Ofcourse it could have been worse, we might have been fighting to stay up in the Elite League, though I know some supporters would like us to down to the Premier League.
