not disappointed at all , never have been with floppy .having him in the pits is as good as the track . remember the crazy gang in the pits in the early 90s . martin , deano , floppy etc , what entertainment
The fight was due to Lewis's Grandad Tony, it seems that Troy Batchelor had been winding Lewis up all meeting and by the end of the last race he finally snapped - have to admit he had been drinking (Tony) so that didn't help but Tony did start it and tried punching Troy but all he got was a cut above his eye which needed steri strips and probably a nice black eye. It was uncalled for and a terrible end to the last meeting. The one thing that made me laugh was Hans Anderson saying he loves these 'Friendly' matches.
Not true as Tony doesn`t drink, are you sure you got the right person? others around him were well oiled.
Doesn`t excuse thier conduct though which was very bad .
would be pleased to see Lewis and his bunch of thug hangerons somewhere else next year. He sets a very bad example to our kids, who look at him like a god. I am a huge fan of Lewis the rider but not the rubbish in tow and the rubbish he attracts.
Well done to Klingon and also to young Brandon on the 500 for the first time( only a second slower than Bovis and Resch so a very promising debut)
I have to disagree Peppapig I was close enough to him to smell drink on his breath. Lewis may not be a good role model for the youngsters and I am sure that he does not need Tony fighting his battles for him and violence does not solve anything.
It was a good meeting, with some excellent racing. Ricky Kling certainly had a good meeting. I think Batchelor was more than a trifle annoyed that the referee did not stop heat 15. I believe Floppy was more than upset because Batchelor would not say sorry to him, after all he did finish Floppy's career. It was a terrible accident because Batchelor said he did not see the red light, the other three did. I wonder if the Poole management were aware of the feeling that exists against Batchelor . I bet they did, and were hoping to add a bit of spice to the meeting. Parker it is not very often that we see this sort of behaviour in speedway, only very occasionally. Look at the football match last Saturday in the Ukraine, players could have been really hurt. It was a sad way to end the last meeting, and I hope that the riders etc are fined. If Batchelor is in the Poole team on Wednesday, perhaps it would be better if Lewis did not ride. I do not like to see this sort of behaviour, as it tarnishes our beloved sport. _________________ Supporting the Eagles through the good times as well as the bad

Doesnt Batchelor ride for Ipswich now surely they wouldnt let him ride for Poole first. Aussie it was the home fans in the Ukraine that were the problem, Luckily for us you are a very well behaved supporter _________________ A Founder Member of the Home Straight Lukas Dryml Appreciation Society!
well the concencus of posts certainly seem to indicate that watt and bridger are no longer welcome at arlington , or to wear the eagle again .as for batchelor , did he ever apologise to floppy for finishing the latter's career . he too is unwelcome .will he be guesting for poole again oh wednesday , has their team been confirmed iro this aspect ? they , bridger and bachelor , will meet at ipswich on thursday anyway.
you are right parker , no ukrainians with flares at arlington yet for all our sakes , including " you know who "it never happens .
Well Ray I'd have Lewis in my team any day of the week! Speedway needs riders like him or it would become very boring!
As for Batch, somebody needs to tell him red light means stop, no red light means carry on _________________ Check out my Pic's site. Click on WWW below...
the point is MrB , bridger actually being a team man . part of a team and for the team . totally agree he is , and always has ys been an exciting rider to watch .just seems after getting out of one scrape he gets into another , doesn't seem to learn , regret or be bothered about the problems , maybe not always all his fault , but if he is not looking for trouble it seems to find him anyway .other riders his age we know of have handled things more maturely . needs a stronger manager and guidance with him .
well before we fantasise further it would be best to wait and see what happens next season , we are told late november will be a key time . agree with parker that we may well run then , but in what league ? could that be why BD appears cold on lower league intrest that we are told about , it is until he is sure their will be no new elite promoter ? there , i have started another rumour agree if we are in elite that simon is the key rider . anyway both BD and bridger stated this will be bridger's last season at arlington . so wait and see . no apologies needed between friends COUS
If you heard Lewis on Saturday he said if he gets his big track sorted out in Poland for next season then there was every possibility that he would ride at Eastbourne .If he didnt get his big track then he'd be off, not exactly the words he used but the general gist. _________________ A Founder Member of the Home Straight Lukas Dryml Appreciation Society!
Parker I know that Batchelor now rides for Ipswich, but at the time of Floppy's accident he was a Swindon rider. He was replaced by Zagar at Swindon, who they signed supposedly for only a month. When Batchelor was fit he found out that he had no team place at Swindon as they kept Zagar, and was picked up by Ipswich. As for the football I know it was the home fans. Parker I have always ben a well beahved supporter. _________________ Supporting the Eagles through the good times as well as the bad

what I was try to say Aussie was that tomorrows meeting with Poole is a double header for the home side Theyve got us first in the challenge and then Ipswich in their last Elite Meeting so at least Batchelor and Lewis probably wont be racing each other.
I know all about Batchelors History thanks Kelvin and Nigel keep me up to speed.. Thanks _________________ A Founder Member of the Home Straight Lukas Dryml Appreciation Society!
Well for what it's worth I sincerely hope that Lewis and his grandfather are not within 100 miles of Poole tomorrow, as for the "international" meeting the following evening, that is up to Lyouns, or whoever is in charge.
With the comments floating round on facebook and the ill feeling generated by this incident, it would be better for all parties if they are kept well apart from each other.
How childish is this all becoming?
From a very reliable source I have heard the story of the night, as all I saw was some aggro at the front of the pits. Fairly straight forward as it happens Floppy was out to get Batchelor and had words with him before the meeting (if words is the correct description) having had a substantial amount to drink. Batchelor was winding Lewis up during the meeting and at the end of heat 15 returned to the pits, as Lewis was doing his bit on the track, and made some gesture to Tony who responded and came of worst with cuts to his head and basically from there it got rather out of hand.
Basically Floppy wound Batchelor up who in turn wound Lewis up with the end result being major fisticuffs. All very stupid and juvenile, and whilst I accept that Batchelor does need to learn to look out for red light (interesting to note that none appeared in heat 15 yet he stopped) Floppy really should have dealt with his grievance a little more tactfully.
Lewis was not in any way shape or form to blame for what happened, that said, he should have been a little more diplomatic when being interviewed on the centre green. He has an enormous talent and is equal to Tai Woofinden any day but just has this knack of letting himself down at the wrong time. If only he could remove himself from the people around him and find a strong manager who will guide him he will go a long way. As it stands at present he will become a laughing stock and will spend his energies trying to defend himself all the time instead of getting on a bike and letting his riding do the talking for him.
As for next season I can't see Eastbourne not running despite what is being said. I'm not sure, though, if this £1,000 idea will work.
For my money I would build a team around Simon, Ricky and Cam and if you want an out and out number 1 we could do a lot worse than sign Hans Andersen who goes up in my estimation every time I see him. Let Lewis go for a year and see how he fares at another track.
