So here we are, tapes up in 4 days, the new season is at last upon us.
What will it bring to us at Eastbourne, and to the sport in general?
There is no doubt that the whole of the sport is going to face an extremely difficult, and for some clubs and their supporters a possibly traumatic, season.
Already a shadow has been cast before a wheel has been turned in competition by the very sad injuries sustained by Adam Roynon, a timely reminder, if ever one was needed, that whatever goes on "off track" every time they ride something can go wrong with drastic consequences.
The team is in place, whatever we feel about the riders for this season, it is OUR team, wearing the Eagle on their chest.
We have the cup to defend.
We have been written off by several "experts", so that must be a priority to prove wrong!
Much has been made of the financial position regarding the club, put starkly, as has been documented, the club has stated that losses of around £130,000 were made over the past 2 seasons, a very big sum of money.
BD is right in his view that the club has to do something to stop further financial haemorraging.
What will constitute success?
To some, the league title.
To some the cup.
Personally, my view this season would be to see the club have a steady, injury free season, and more importantly get through the season, and then confirm that they will be running in 2010.
So, to all of you out there, enjoy your racing, be grateful that we have Bob Dugard, and the Dugard family, whatever our views the bottom line is if he was NOT the promoter of this club there would, in all probability, be no club.

Good post Kevin.....Couldn't agree with you more. We may not be the strongest team in the league but the riders we got wants to ride for this club. I am sure they will give their 110% to ride for us and our club. Good luck to our team and Be safe out there

agree kevin absolutely . but as posted previously without BD we would not have an eagles , and we are very grateful . just that he should remember without us he wouldn,t have an eagles either .
