Public Transport to Arlington Stadium

Is there any public transport or coach to the Stadium from the Town?

We live near Whitstable and are visiting Eastbourne and staying over for a few days before Easter.  We will be able to catch the Good Friday meeting but wondered whether there was anyway to get up to Arlington if we didnt have our own transport.

Also, why is it that it is so difficult to find out anything about Speedway when visiting the Town?  There doesnt seem to be any advertising anywhere or in the Hotels etc - or, are we looking in the wrong place?

Even the Stadium was quite hard to find the first time we came down but at least we know our way now.

Can anyone  help please?

Hi Samfan

There are buses from Eastbourne to Hailsham and the nearest bus stop to the stadium is South Road.  A service ran by advance booking last year but I do not know if this is being continued this year. All the details were in the old official site but there is no access to this now.

I am emailing Martin Hagon to ascertain.

I think there are plans to supply the publicity bureau with leaflets and shops with posters.

Is there any train stations near by?

Nearest train stations are Polegate and Eastbourne.  Certainly not walking distance.
Bazra

Berwick station is nearby.

TAXI!
Mr Grimsdale

I'm gutted that the coach service is not being run this year.

My family and I got into watching the Eagles as a result of finding out about the service on the Eagles website and we used it a number of times both whilst on holiday in Eastbourne and when coming up especially from home in Kent.

It allowed me and the mrs to have a few beers as well, safe in the knowledge we'd be picked up from right in front of the stand afterwards!

Trouble is much like the for the Eagles themselves the advertising of the coach was sadly lacking, in that if you weren't aware the Eagles had a website or actually got to the stadium by your own steam in the first place, you wouldn't know the service existed, which is a somewhat Catch22 situation!

A 'hard sell' in Eastbourne including putting posters in local shops, adverts/press releases in the Eastbourne newspapers and maybe some show appearances in shopping centres/the front might well have brought a fair number of previously unaware punters, local and tourist, to Eastbourne speedway using that very service.

It's a shame this particular venture appears to have failed when, a bit more application from management would, I'm sure, have seen it succeed in the long term.
speedy dan boy

which places did the coach pick up from?
Mr Grimsdale

Eastbourne Town Centre
Eastbourne Pier
Polegate
Hailsham

and I'm sure any points in between upon request!

The drivers were a good bunch - Lynn's Travel in Eastbourne were the company running it.

we may all have to drive there and utilise the service if the carpark is unusable . am concerned about panthers match tomorrow already . please may we have good news about the problem .
Bazra

Can we please talk about the travel. AND NOT THE CAR PARK.
rayjay2

can understand your comment bazra , but we need somewhere to park at end of a longish journey . will find out tonite acting on parker's advice . hopefully all will be reasonable then "that thread" can be closed .
Mr Grimsdale

I would just like to take a moment to give credit where it's due.

I wrote to Martin Hagon last week regarding the reinstatement of the coach to home meetings (amongst other things) and he was very prompt in ringing me back to talk about it.

I don't know if anything will come of it, but I was impressed with his positive manner and willingness to take on board other people's views, which is unusual enough in itself nowadays to be worthy of comment on this forum!

Actually I reported it to the Managements representitive or line Manager and was told that it was in fact a sceptic tank, so it could have held numerous wolves fans Laughing  Having said that the same person I informed was going to get a new Disabled sign for the Area reserved for the disabled and thats still not happened after 2 years despite a reminder at this years H&S meeting. So watch where you  park  Baz Exclamation
