david , they are off to mexico again , ask them to wear those hats so everyone can recognise them don't think they will need the jumping beans though , we will all be leaping with excitement and joy this season .

I see from the front page article Bob stated that the promoters had got together to discuss ways of beating the credit crunch. Several ideas were banded about but they are not allowed to disclose them. One would have thought that they would have used a forum to "leak" these proposals so as to test the water so to speak. Instead we have the annual cloak and dagger scenario, God knows what ideas they will come up with but I bet they dont reduce the addmission price
Perhaps they will dispense with the £1 to sit in the grandstand more likely double the car park fee

Presume that will give BD a very good reason not to renovate the public conveniences this season
|
ray

is that what is known as " toilet humour " kevin think you will be proven right . if we are not season ticket holders we will have to pay £1 to use the grandstand loo . might say that is taking the
p***? be intresting to see how the fee is collected . i was told it has happened before , somebody stood there collecting at the stairs . wonder if they will guard both sets of stairs ?!.think parker will find that an improvement to his car park duties . await your response , paul , mate .

|
ray
|
no ,don't expect they will get any change out of you , my friend .
think it might be amusing trying to sneak in , and have the satisfaction more of using the decent loo than not paying the pound . all that about car park fee to pay for new loos . nobody likes being decieved and losing trust in those who you put your trust in .
anyway each of us paying the car park fee have paid about £25 each season towards the improved loos that never materialised
|
ray

well how many of the seven will be there ? have we got seven , what seven ?
|
ray
|
so will the management please inform us of the riders , ours and guests , who will be taking part . so no denis , what about cameron , holder , and dryml . please let us know . would go even if only floppy and deano were there -- but let the fans know , please .
david , thought this would open the new topic on the official website , not this topic . please switch this to the new topic . thank you .

good turnout by fans . great to watch david again , shake his hand , and see his smile . the riders whilst practising fully showed a common team spirit . particularly when cam had a heavy crash and stayed down . they all rushed out of the pits to him on the far side of the track , lewis sprinting all the way . hopefully it will be bruises only for cam , he was on his feet eventually .

only one downside which may be sorted before the season starts, its me being fussy but think it would look better if everyone had black bike covers, watts are like crumps, klings were red white and green, drymals bit like watts, norris red and black with hans anderson writing all over them

I could not stay long but nice to see Ray and another forum member who spotted me from my photo
Hope Cam is ok.

Unfortunately due to not being able to get a lift up there I didn't arrive until 1:45pm, so didn't see Cam or Lewis.
Norris was really going for it very agressive into the bends, Gustafsson and Kling looked good as well whilst Watt didn't really ride a full lap just stop starts.
Impressed with Dryml's dedication as he seemed to want more and more laps, wonder if he got a place to stay for the night as I hear there is practise tomorrow as well.
Was that Holder, Gizatullin and Pedersen I saw in the pits as well, did they do a few laps? Who looked the quickest there?
|
ray
|
david's bike cover is andersen 's bought with the bike .andersen's sponsors names on it . davey has his cover to match his kevlars to wear when not racing for his team . crump was the same . think you will see lewis was bearing our new livery on his bike , predominantly black as usual . cam was wearing last season's team kevlars .
each season , since 1993 i have painted the team models of themselves as perfect as i can make it . david said he was looking forward to his new one to add to his collection . martin has a showcase at home with about a dozen figures . my way of thanking them . no charge , my pleasure , but i have a paid hobby , i paint model soldiers for collectors and to raise money for wounded and retired soldiers homes , so i am used to researching full details .

I stayed from 11am until 2 pm.
Overall I thought Lewis and Floppy practiced very hard. Lewis looked pretty fast and was quite impressive chasing Bjarne Pedersen on two outings.
Floppy was pretty smooth. Hard to tell how quickly he was going though.
Davey looked fast, Simon and Ricky looked to be going as well as you would expect.
Cam' was looking pretty fast and aggressive until he fell. It was a real heavy, hit the fence coming out of bend 4, over the front, limbs in all directions job, and he was down a long time. Also the First Aid guys weren't very quick getting to him.
He walked back to the pits with Lewis and looked very shaken up and didn't ride again afterwards, so I hope he's ok.
The guy who really impressed me was Lukas Dryml. He probably did more laps than anyone, and after a few small 'rears' and 'lockers' early on, he seemed to be very fast and smooth indeed, towards the end of practice. He looked anything but a guy who was only there for 6 weeks and didn't really want to ride for us
Overall I was very encouraged.
I think we will do OK this year - or is that just wishful thinking ?.

Thanks Tweagle good to hear.
And Ray, i have my own collection of GP riders at home from about 4-5 years ago, Crump, Sullivan and Nicholls
|

I didn't go today, but it's great to hear the positives on the riding front.
Dryml didn't disgrace himself in last years GP's, so there's hope.
Lets think positive - ALL our riders have the potential to improve this season.
Hope things quieten down now from BD's media front & we can all concentrate on the racing!

me too sam . those models have been replaced in the club shop by better and slightly larger figures .it is these i repaint for the riders .used to do them for some of the sponsors but got too much . mind you many of those sponsors have gone , including hagon , meridian and maskell .

What time was practise today?
|
ray

11 to 3 , but didn't really start on track until nearly 12 . the difference a digital camera has made , over 70 pics . when i think of the old camera and film , not knowing how the pics would be until the prints arrived . then they weren't what you had expected and hoped for . me , i still think the telephone is a miracle , voices going in and out of a wire line !
oh well at least i am aware i am amazed , puzzled and suprised at times , so i haven't lost it completely ----- yet !

Thanks, got there at 12:30pm. Bjarne Pedersen looked like he could lap most of the other riders he was so quick. Bridger looked like he was going to fall off.
Was that Gizatullin there in the light blue leathers?
|
ray
|
must point out spd , these are pics of the team suits and sponsors logos , their helmets , goggles , gloves etc no action pics . it is so i can paint the exact details on each model . later the bikes with new team livery but individual sponsors .just so as you know .

THANKS as always Mr B for the photos very good.
RAY as long as you took photos of eastbourne speedway im interested.Im a bit of an anorak so if your photos icluder flying bits of shale,a tool box in the pits, spare wheels etc im interested!!

sounds like i have just what you want .

Didnt think teams are having bike covers this year, its down to the riders I think. Well lakeside are not having any and it didnt look like Eastbourne are with the P&P pics
|
ray
|
will have to see , maybe credit crunch for BD ?! lewis' was new and predominantly black . shame if not uniform ,the team look more like a team , and professional . the same goes for the cover infront of the handlebars .
|
nug
|
thats a shame, just feel it doesnt look professional, fair enough in individual meetings but i do think teams should have there own covers.
|
ray
|
yes nug , and they have their own and non-team kevlars for open meetings too. perhaps if this is the case the supporters club can help raise funds so they can look as they should look , like eastbourne eagles .
|
MD
|
Well I may be wrong but why would Eastbourne run a press day without team bike covers if they didnt have to? Also it was not just bike covers it was guards as well, now tell me a speedway rider who would go to a P&P and prepare a couple of bikes with different bike covers, guards and fork covers on?
|
ray
|
looking at bazza's excellent pics it is plain to see floppy has removed the hans andersen covers and has his own on showing his sponsors names and logos . so no mistake there . but the covers are red , white and blue , not black .so obviously there are no team covers , why would riders go to the expense of having different sets .not wishing to sound petty , pedantic or like an anorak i will say no more , except i need to know so i can paint the team's models correctly .
|
nug
|
i went on sunday and it clearly still says hans anderson .com written on the covers, prehaps hans is paying him for advertising?
|
ray
|
anything is possible in a recession nug , but check out bazza's pics , clearly david's sponsors on his kevlars and bike . seriuosly though he may be using andersen's when not generally in public , save getting his own from wear and tear , then having to replace them . on saturday cam had last seasons kevlars and bike , possibly for the same reason . check pics , they are excellent .

Floppy had 2 bikes there, 1 still had Hans old cover and 1 had Floppys new cover.

thanKs MrB . that must be the answer . wonder how much those things cost ?
