Poole v Eastbourne (Cant call them Eagles at present) 3 June

Could be really messy....

I reckon the best we can hope for is to make double figures!!! Rolling Eyes
sussexbulldog

With only 3 riders at present that seems realistic. Sad

We might not like what Poole have done with their team.... but at least they faced their problems head on and did something about it..... and with a reported 40% reduction in attendances!

A stark contrast to their South Coast rivals!!

As far as i know Bridger is riding, Mcgowan comes in as a guest for norris and its r/r for Drymal, a guest for are 2nd reserve is as of yet not confirmed
ComeOnYouSpurs

IF Lewis is ok to ride..... IF we've got Travis in for Floppy and he rides like he did at Ippo last night.... IF we get a decent 2nd reserve (Poole are weak at 6 & 7).... IF we take advantage of the R/R for Lukas with (I believe) everyone able to take a ride....

We could make more of a contest of it than I first thought, and maybe they can reclaim the title of "Eagles"

But it's still gonna be tough.

Who the number 7 is and whether Poole's "poor" heat leaders have had a miraculous upturn in form will be the important factors. Shocked

If we are to have any chance of even getting the 1 point we need everyone to stand up and be counted? I think its about time Mr Watt showed the form we expect from a No.1. Lets hope tonight is the night?

On other matters rider replacement for Dryml might work as I assume it means that Bridger, Woodward and McGowan can all take one of his rides and his away form has been pretty up and down this year?

Reserve is a worry. Let's hope we can at least get someone in who is half decent?

We are also all probably assuming that Lewis is fit? If he pulls out half way through the meeting it could be a very messy final score?

We also need Woodward to try and stay on his bike for 5 rides and Kling to avoid the tapes at the start!

Finally, as for McGowan he was a good guest last time out and I don't think anyone can doubt his commitment ? Anyway if the management consider that 6 points from 5 rides from Lyons at Belle Vue is a good effort he hasn't got much to beat  Sad  For someone who has riden at Belle Vue for much of his career I would would have thought 8 or 9 points would been the minimum we might expect??

Oh well, here's hoping and fingers crossed !

According to the Argus Lewis is doubtful and might be replaced by a guest. Sad

Any news on a confirmed line-up yet?

It might be nice for those who are thinking of going to know who they are going to see representing us!!

According to the Argus Bridger rides for Eagles

Lewis Bridger has declared himself fit to ride for Eastbourne Eagles tonight.

The teenage star suffered various injuries, most notably a badly bruised right leg, racing for Great Britain under-21s in Germany on Monday.

However he has passed himself fit for tonight's tough-looking Elite League contest at new-look Poole.

James Holder has been called in as guest for Chris Schramm, who is required by his parent club King's Lynn.

Schramm has been filling in of late for Simon Gustafsson, who practises in Sweden later today after recovering from a broken collarbone.

Travis McGowan had already been booked to guest for the injured Lukas Dryml, though the Czech could be back to face Coventry at Arlington on Saturday.

Eagles tonight: Watt, Norris r/r, Bridger, Woodward, McGowan, Kling, Holder.

I have been told thats its not James Holder but is Klaus Jacobsen. Any one out there know any different?

May I now officially re-christen the team:

Stand up and take a bow The Eastbourne EAGLES.

Now own up.... who saw that coming?

Final score: (New Look) Pirates 44 - Eagles 46

Scorers:

Davey - 8+1 from 6 rides
Travis - 11+1 from 5 rides - fabulous guest performance
Lewis - 14 from 6 rides
Cameron 5 from 5 rides
Ricki - 8+3 from 5 rides
James 0 from 3 rides

And just as a matter of interest both Pedersen and Andersen scored 13 from 6 rides for Poole.

Amazing.... Unbelievable.... But Fantastic!!!

Well what a surprise, Shocked  to be honest most of us I think thought we would lose. Well done to all the boys, especially Travis McGowan. what a guest he has turned out to be. Just shows what they can do. Poole must have thought they had the points for tonights meeting, especially as we had so many injuries. Well done to ALL the team. Very Happy  Very Happy

Unbelieveable. Pirates supporters must be sick of the Eagles.  Just imagine what the result would have been with Simon riding instead of James Holder! Travis McGowan made the difference. Lewis performed like a  Number 1 especially winning Heat 13 which has been a problem away from home.
Also I don't think Lukas could have matched the R/R score of 9 points. I hope Simon is fit for Saturday and we can do the same to the Bees whatever team they bring to Arlington.
speedy dan boy

GET IN THERE!!! Its like beating the aussies at cricket when we beat Poole for me and now doing it on a regular basis ,im sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo happy, well done to all the boys, lewis seems to love it there(thank god he didnt go there!! in the close season) and riding with an injury as well, and cam came good when the chips were down again and won heat 14 with ricky. Travis done a trem job and davey weighed in with valueable points.Sorry i shoudnt hate any team but i just love it when we beat Poole!!! suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuupa dooooooooooopa

Well, after 2 dire away performances where we thought we would at least pick  up 1 point from each meeting, we toddle off for a day trip to the West Country without much hope,..........................and stuff'em Exclamation

What a funny old sport Laughing

Brilliant form from a black and blue Lewis.
Excellent guest Travis, big thank you.
Steady from Davey.
Yet another decent score from Ricki.
Cameron, produced the goods just at the right time.
James, the experience will do him good.

Management must also be praised for an inspirational choice of guest, so all round a very good nights work.

Now, let's build on it and send Pratt, Sandhu and that demented lunatic Trump, who seems to be on a one man mission to turn the sport into a complete joke, packing on Saturday. Laughing  Laughing

See the report on our front page.

Brilliant result and not at all what I expected.  Cool

Bl**dy Eastbourne, just as I was giving up on this season they get me interested again!

Fantastic effort and result boys, more of the same please!
MrB

Well I nearly didn't go but boy am I pleased I did Wink  Laughing

Never saw that result comming but despite Pooles tactics ie track rakers filling in our riders gating ruts and the start marshall treading them in, not watering the track and having to watch through a sandstorm etc etc dispite all that we won FAIR AND SQUARE Wink

Racing was poor but they have an excellent 7 point rider, possibly the best 7 pointer in the league Rolling Eyes  who outshone the return of the wonder boy. Mentioning the wonderboy, Fraud and Muddlo did excellent Hans Christian Anderson jobs with the programme notes Laughing  oh and Mr Reeve from the SCB was there to interview the riders over wild accusations of average lowering, must of been impressed with Bjarne's performance last night Exclamation
