Could Nicki be back with entry fee of £20 ?
ray

BD is absolutely correct . at last we are on the same wavelength , yes parker , i can agree with BD when we have the same opinions . think the majority of us , from what we have posted , agree . Shocked  Rolling Eyes  Laughing
parker

I dont know why you've brought my name it to this Ray, but i would to a point agree with all BDs comments regarding the FIM and GPs. He also has to accept some responsabilities for the clubs  demise and by his own admission he has, in so much  that he never had the time to properly promote the club, neither for that matter did Hagon. As Aussie will tell you people living in Hailsham still dont know they have a speedway team on their door step. As for Nicki coming back for an admission fee of £20, thats Ray finished , he moaned enough about the extra £1 to sit in the grandstand Laughing
ComeOnYouSpurs

I agree totally with Bobs comments.... and for us, financially it would actually be a saving....

This year... minimum 17 home meetings @ £15 = £255

Minimum 12 home meetings @ £20 = £240

Plus reduced travel costs, programmes, parking etc etc....

The main stumbling block as I see it.....

It would need a 12 team Elite League..... can anyone see 3 other teams wanting to join?
Sid

To have 12 Home matches there would need to be 13 teams in the league - which is highly unlikely.
sussexbulldog

How about 7 teams visiting twice ?
ComeOnYouSpurs

I'm assuming 12 teams....

11 home league matches + at least 1 KO Cup tie.

I guess it could be worked with the current 9 teams as follows....

An early season North/South competition = 3 or 4 matches + a possible final.

8 home league matches.

Between 1 and 4 KO Cup matches.

That would result in a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 17.

parker , as you are likely to comment when i agree with BD thought i'd save you repeating , see you missed the point .admit you are getting like me , rambling , didn't realise it was contagious . so when did i mention nikki coming back ? yes , so glad i didn't have to pay the extra pound . anyway enough of the trivia , the ideas are flowing and BD  is right , the formula he suggests is surely the only way any possible new promoter would even consider the elite . BD has hinted there is a new formula that might be acceptable , but other elite teams who have to have more home matches under agreements with their landlords [ GRA ]could have problems with fewer home matches . so many ifs and buts , await 2010 plans from bspa and all promoters comments , but as yet we have no 2010 promoter , so unless bspa pay attention to BD's comments we will have no say anyway .  any new promoter would have to then decide whether he was still intrested and if so , in which league . oh dear , rambling again folks , sorry .
some posts have various suggested formulas , and there hopefully will be the one that suits whoever may save-our-eagles . Question
Sid

As I've mentioned before, I think that by amalgamating the Elite and Premier Leagues, which will consist of 23 teams, divided into North and South Leagues (to save excessive travelling), one with 11 and the other with 12, with the top team in each league meeting to decide who will be the champions, may be a solution.

It will be interesting to see what the powers that be come up with this time!
Aussie2

I would certainly pay more to Nicki and the other top riders back. Smile  I know my husband is of the same opinion. The only reason he left was because of the heavy schedule. Surprised  Surprised  Mind you they are talking of having more GP's, so it makes you wonder how many of the riders will be able to afford to only do the GP's. It seems that the people running the GP's could not care about the racing in this country. It is about time those who represent GB on the FIM committees stand up and are counted. For too long they have not been forceful enough. The people who run the GP's are avarice (greedy), Mad  and in time other countries could find they will be affected.  Surprised  Surprised

yes aussie2 , we are in agreement with most , including BD . GPs and other international events on saturdays have grown out of all proportion . time will come , even though certain GP riders returned to elite league during the season  , that riders schedhules will make both impossible .as others have posted the only ways we can continue on saturdays in elite is either a combined elite and premier on a regional basis , with just one league visit to each relevant opponent , or restrict the elite matches to the same one league visit each also .have to wait and see what bspa decision is . both could cause problems for some teams therefore the matter must be dealt with urgently . with fewer matches a national league side could fill the gaps whatever international competitions were happening , and keep the tradition of eagles producing their own riders of the future .
but the deciding force may well be Sky who have so much financial clout in all decisions where they sponsor and screen top speedway
generally . without their support no final decisions may be made on international or british speedway .
sussexbulldog

I understand what you say about Sky Ray but either they sit back and watch EL speedway die or they back any merger plans.

As usual we will have to wait and see.
ray

yes david , in this finacial world we live in the guys with the money tend to dictate .intresting to see there has been intrest at running in a lower league . this maybe at least part of the answer , and that is better than nothing at all .
parker

I would be very careful about " signing say, Nicki and raising the admission to £20 what happens when(god forbid) he gets injured, whats it going to be R/R or Davey Watt either way it wouldnt be worth the increase.

Interesting to read that there has been some interest from possible promoters but to run the team  in a lower league contary to BDs wishes. Considering BD wants out of promoting it seems he still wants to have it run his way. Is this going to be a major stumbling block?
Kopster

Yes we need Nicki P back without a doubt. To have Davey Watt as our number 1 was a total mistake he was never a number 1 rider and it shows now but the way he has been riding. But if we brought Nicki back we need a team that can support him and not let him down.
MrB

Interesting if that would work or not? would people pay say £20 to see the top riders? If that did happen you would have to increase the points limit by a fair way which is the exact opposite of where the BSPA have been going with thier '3 year plan'!

The other question would be is that enough meetings? Maybe it would encourage more travelling fans? Certainly there are lots of pros and cons to the situation but surely the 'successfull' clubs would want more home fixtures?

Lots to be discussed I feel. Rolling Eyes

regadless , to have him back for watt in just the poole match would make it a very special evening and probably the highest attendance of the season . even new attendees would want to come again , and all nicki fans , many not now regulars , would want to come again whatever league we ended up in . giving them their first taste like that was howc so many of us started . a fitting farewell whatever happens next season . that is called " promoting " Very Happy

And therefore it won't happen! Laughing

why am i not suprised  Exclamation  Question thinking coz management now see and admit the problems there have been this season silly me wqas expecting them to consider doing , or even thinking about them . last match , simple , fans attracted to special one-off , considerable. nothing special , infact weakened teams , think cam already on his way home before this , less than considerable  Exclamation i know  many will feel this way . was doing something else , but " special " i will bring the people we are seeing to arlington with a change of entertainment . Idea
