Lakeside v Eastbourne 4th Sept.

So... which Eagles team is gonna turn up?

Firstly in personel?

Will Daniel be fit to ride?

Will the pathetic Kling be given another chance to show just how pathetic he is?

Secondly in attitude?

Will it be the team that has been so poor at Arlington recently?

Or the team that had 4 heroes in the draw at Coventry?

Will Davey Watt prove to us that he isn't deliberately reducing his average in preperation for a return to Poole next year?

So many questions!!!!

Oh... and here's one more...

Is anybody going?
ray

no , but intrested in sophie's mate saying BD  told her cook is one of those intrested in arlington . if you are pick up some gossip please . is richardson out ? hear adam is back
Sophies Mate

Some friends of mine are going and are under strict instructions to find out the gossip! Have also asked a couple of lakeside fans I know to keep me posted!

Surely how much you can wind them up will depend on which Eagles team turns up!!

Well there's a question!

Up till last Friday I was then after our home meeting I'd have said no way! Now after the Coventry result I don't know!  Rolling Eyes

Do I not want to brave the Friday night rush hour M25 traffic, the dodgy weather forcast and go to the only place in England that feels like -10 even in mid summer to watch no passing on the slickest track in the EL with a team of no-hopers OR do I go to what could be our last away meeting ever to support the lads that got a great result last night?

As you say, so much depends on which team turns up! But I can't decide what to do Confused
MrB

Also it would be nice to know BEFORE Friday if we are going to have a full team. If I decide to go I don't wan't to hear at 7.45 that we have a PL lamb to the slaughter at number 7. Idea

going to stand adjacent the pits to as to ensure Trevor knows we are there Wink

Weve not been to successful  at lakeside even when we had the legendary Nicki Pedersen but thats not stopped us making sure those good old Essex boys know we are there Laughing

Do you really think Trevor will know that you are there?? Its seems to me that Mr ray's friend is not on this planet at the best of times - maybe if you all dress up as Sooty Sweep or Sue he may notice you!
ComeOnYouSpurs

So there's good news and bad news....

The good news.... it looks like Daniels injury isn't too bad and there's a chance he might be fit for this meeting.

The bad news.... The pathetic Kling is still included in our line-up AND it looks like Simon might be missing as he's listed as R/R on the other site.

Should that be accurate I assume that all but Davey would be able to take an R/R ride.....

Can I just ask anyone out there who might be a bit of a rules boffin....

Should Daniel not be fit in time would it mean that based on his average of 5.10 we could bring in a Premier Leaguer on an average of up to 10.20 or would we be forced to use our declared no.8, Chris Schramm, as I believe Kings Lynn aren't riding on Friday?
MD

You can only have a guest for the number 1 rider in the top 5 if only 1 rider is missing, so if Simon is away it will be R/R.

Dont trust all that you read on the internet, as in Dave's post he has got the team line up wrong for one side at least   Rolling Eyes

So once again (assuming Daniel is fit) you'd expect us to be strong in the reserve positions......

But that's what I thought going into the meeting against Poole at Arlington and look what happened then!!

Perhaps this could be the chance for the pathetic Kling to redeem himself?...... unless of course the little sausage is still feeling poorly!! Wink

Ray, I've kept quiet over this description of Trevor, but enough is enough.

I think we are all agreed that perhaps he is not the most adept team manager in the league, BUT he can only work with what he has got.
At the end of the day there are 7, or on occasion 6, riders in the team, THEY are the ones who have to go out there and get the points on the board.

As far as Trevor is concerned he is a thoroughly decent person.
He is also 'Eastbourne' through and through.
He joined the team as a youngster back in the early 1970s', was a thoroughly dependable rider for the club, the sort of rider we would give our eye teeth to have in the team right now, as a matter of fact!
A couple of seasons ago he gave up a well paid job to come back to this club as team manager, probably taking a big financial hit to do so, so that shows his commitment.

Criticise by all means, but please, do not include items which can be construed as personal abuse, that is totally uncalled for.

As I said, enough is enough.
sussexbulldog

Totally agreed
ray

kevin , david . my critisism is of the team manager not the person , as i have posted several times before . think you will see many others feel the same . have chatted many times in the past , he is a thoroughly decent bloke , but he simply does not have what is required for the job as team manager , and is part , but only part , of yet another poor season .
we are allowed our opinions on this site , but it would seem you have misinterperated mine .note the faces i have often added to my posts , others too . Smile  Rolling Eyes

Ray I have sent you a PM.  Free speach but no name calling etc.
speedy dan boy

IM sorry but im going to have to stick up for Ray on the ray's friend topic.England manager gets called turniphead.
joey barton gets called a baffoon, john prescott gets called two jags,i could go on and on,its just figure of speech.it wouldnt bother me in the slightest being called that,i would take it as a pinch of salt, its part and parcel of the job.Once again i get sooooooooo annoyed when people come on and say its name calling,if ray said"trevor is acting like a ray's friend to the eastbourne management"would people say thats wrong.come on we all know trev is a top bloke and eastbourne through and through but to say Ray is name calling is an offence in its own right.

All this stuff seems a bit of a waste of time.  The thread is Lakeside v Eagles.  Lakeside look strong. Eagles do not have Gustaffson.  But maybe they will "do a Coventry" again........

Since when have we worried about sticking to a thread  Laughing  Laughing

To be honest I don’t feel comfortable with some of the name calling on here, nobody on this site is against criticism of any kind to anybody but some of the name calling towards a few people within the club is getting a bit much.

Say what you wish I think, but leave the playground stuff towards our own to one side.
mmmmethanol

The comments aimed at Trevor Geer were covered 6 weeks ago by me on the Eagles v Hammers 25th July thread.

Seems nothing changes.
nug

Trevor Geer is a nice guy and is fully commited to Eastbourne and  cant argue that fact, but as a speedway manager and one that has to make tactical changes then he is useless and i dont think anyone could argue against that. Now, it may not be due to him it may be all down to the man at top of the pile (mr dugard) why is Mr Geer still there? Is he the only man still there helping out cos he wont stand up to Bob, Every one else has seemed to walk out but not Mr Geer

Getting back on topic Nermark is out and Hurry is his replacement

I have kept quiet about some of the comments, but at times it has made me very angry.  Sad If I had said what I really wanted to I would probably have been banned. Constructive critisism is fine, but some of the name calling is not. TG may not be everybody's cup of team, but at least he has remained loyal. We do not know what constraints have been put on TG about who he could or could not sign. I think it is about time it stopped and let's support the Eagles, even if we have not had the season we wished we could have had. Wink

I can agree with most points nug I think tactically Trevor leaves a lot to be desired, He doesnt seem to me to be a man that would give someone a real wellie up the backside if its required, However he does appear to have integrity and is loyal to club and if Dugard is true to form probably works for nothing.I'm all for a bit of humour after all the sport is supposed to be entertaining but the name calling has probably now over stepped the mark and by continually repeating has become boring. To tell you the truth if BD said he would guarantee speedway at Eastbourne next season on condition Trevor managed the team we'd bite his hand off  Wink

With two of our in form riders out I've now decided to give it a miss. Who knows which team will turn up, the poor home team or the Coventry away team, I hope to be regreating my choice tomorrow night Rolling Eyes

It's a shorter journey for me than to Arlington, but  wild horses would not drag me to Lakeside. I went there a few times some years ago.  Reminded me of a few army camps I have been in ( many years ago!).  All it needed was goons with machine guns.  Mind you, I am told the nosh is better than at Arlington, but that would not be difficult to achieve. However, if, sadly, EB packed up  at the end of the season, I would not go to Lakeside.  Would have to make do with my occasional visits to Workington when on holiday in the Lakes.  Hmm, this post is a bit of a ramble. Sorry folks!

pleased to see formation of team , including r/r . we may well lose , evenly fairly heavily , especially with simon and nermark out , also lukas has problems riding that track [so do all riders who like to race on a proper surface ] . but there has been thought gone into this which is appreciated . ComeOnYouSpurs

Right up till 5 o'clock I was umming and arring about whether to go or not.

Boy am I pleased that I let the prospect of the M25 convince me not to bother!!!

At the beginning of this thread I asked some questions.....

Well..... Davey didn't do much to convince us that the theory about him deliberately reducing his average ready for next year doesn't have some truth to it.

And as for the pathetic Kling.... I'm afraid he's proving himself to be even more pathetic than I originally thought. That's now 12 consecutive rides without beating an opponent. A complete and utter waste of an Eagles race suit. Surely he has now run out of chances and MUST be replaced for our last 2 home matches. Bring back James Brundle!!

Not a bad effort from Cameron.... one of his better away scores.

I guess we can excuse Lewis and Lukas to some degree after their heroics at Coventry gained us the points which might just about keep us off the bottom of the league.

And a big thankyou to Paul Hurry who almost single handedly saved us from complete humiliation..... and in the process hopefully convinced Bob and Trevor that the pathetic Kling should be shown the door.

Or maybe someone who was there (harryhagfors perhaps) will come on and tell me that I've got it all wrong again!! Wink  Rolling Eyes

NOTE TO TREVOR: If the next 2 meetings at Arlington are to be the last for a while can you please impress upon the riders that go out to represent The Eagles how important it is that we should finish with a bang and not a whimper.
ray

who can put him into heat 13 ?! so replacing either watt or bridger . had hurry had his seven rides? full details might be of intrest but seemingly the match was already lost . Sad  Embarassed
speedy dan boy

well we made the wrong choice and went!!! first of all i was amazed at the size of the crowd on a windy cold friday evening, ther must of between 1,500 and 2,000 which is amazing but they do promote well there!!As for the team,it says it all when a guest completely showed the rest of the team how to score points.
1- Davey Watt-terrible first half of the meeting, doing all his own work on his bike no mechanic, all on his own and didnt looked bothered.
3-L Bridger -Not really at the races but looked like he was trying
4-C Woodward- one of his better efforts and did well.
5-L Dryml- just does not like the place
6-P Hurry -Superb beating all the hammers except Nimo but only given 6 rides(im saying nothing!!!)
7-R Kling -now ive stuck up for Ricky in the past and he should know the lakeside track but after racing into the first turn and doing a couple of laps completely gave up in his races not racing for the other 2 laps.THIS IS NOT ON.Then to our amazement was given an extra ride in the hardest race of the night in heat 13.What were the management thinking of.If he tried in his races i could understand, but giving up after 2 laps and instead of being punished he gets an extra ride!!
TO  CAP THE NIGHT OFF Trevor Geer was helping pack Joonas K stuff away as he must be staying with the Geer family!!!
parker

What amazed me was the number of Eagle fans up there, cant say they are not supported. Believe it or not despite the wind an hour stuck on the M25 to an RTA roadworks coming home I quite enjoy the promotion the music is better in so much as its not only aimed at teenagers. It was just the score that disappoints me Unfortunately Christine Turnbull was the referee and some of her decisions are dodgy to say the least. Lewis clearly beat Robson on the line in heat 8 only for her to give it to Hammers man which amazed the home fans. You almost wonder if shes taking backhands course as BD wouldnt pass the odd brown envelope we seem to get araw deal from her Wink  Laughing Lets hope the last 2 home meetings are better the armchair critics get of there ****s and support the club in what maybe the last ever meetings.
ray

seem to have read these posts before , have----  about other matches . have to admire lakesides promotion and contact with the fans , even ours attend, good on you guys--real supporters . you , and all of us deserve better , arlington is so superior to lakeside , and although the location of the latter gives a larger number of people easier access than arlington , this is not the only reason the attendances are larger .
sincerely hope the moral and performances improve in the last two home matches , don't want to see the seven home defeats added to . in seventeen seasons we have never lost those many home matches . yet some of the displays at home , and occasionally away have been excellent . we all have certain and various thoughts why . Sad
tonye

From my position on the back straight opposite the start/finish line, Robson was first over the line.

Well from our position on the home straight in line with the start and finish line Lewis won.... but its history now.
