King's Lynn man signs for the Eagles - Paul WatsonEastbourne Eagles this afternoon (Thursday) announced the signing of King’s Lynn’s Chris Schramm as their new number eight for the remainder of the 2009 season.
Twenty-four- year-old Schramm has strong links with the club having represented them at junior level during his formative years.
His signing is particularly important for the Eagles as they seek cover for Simon Gustafsson as he fulfils Swedish international commitments.
Schramm has ridden for a number of number of teams over the years since making his official debut in the colours of Peterborough juniors in 2000.
Last year he rode for Ipswich in the Elite League a season but joined their East Anglian rivals King’s Lynn in the Premier League for 2009 where he has fired in some outstanding performances.
Schramm replaces Newport’s James Holder who previously held the number eight role although he never rode for the club.
Schramm makes his Eagles’ debut on Saturday (May 2) in the match at Arlington against Ipswich.
Eastbourne team manager and co-promoter Trevor Geer said: “With Simon (Gustafsson) in such great form but having to miss the occasional meeting in the weeks ahead it is imperative that we can call on somebody who is able to put good points on the board for us and having been more than impressed with Chris’s performance for the Witches over the last two seasons we are certain that he’s the man who will be able to do that for us.
“It’s a move that we believe benefits the rider and it certainly suits us.
“If I’m honest I can’t believe he was still available at this stage of the season and we are very much looking forward to seeing what Chris is capable of in our colours.”

Yeah good job Mr D and Trev. That's a bit less of a points reduction when Super Simon is away.
