Highlight of the Eagles Elite League Season.Whats been the Highlight of the past season for fellow posters?

Mine would be winning the Shield at the beginning of the season and then beating Poole twice again.
I also enjoyed the EL Pairs meeting and thought the scoring system encouraged team riding as in the days of Gordon Kennett and the potato man.

highlight for me cameron passing leigh adams in heat 15 , in our tv epic against swindon what a long night that was . also good to see lukas settle down to life at eastbourne , done well despite all the negatives at the begining of the season.

In such a poor season which looked bright at the start too there isn't many highlights. Winning the shield against Poole is a good one and seeing Dryml improving after everyone shot him down before he started. But my highlight must be seeing Simon Gustafsson growing and becoming a very good rider.

I agree the Shield was a great win, mirrored the end of the previous season,Camerons pass of Swindons Leigh Adams in heat 15 brought us to our feet although Adams was trying to shephard his team mate home at the time. But for me the most enjoyable moment or meeting was the 49-41 defeat of Coventry when Eddie Kennett made his return even the crowd were up for it, the atmosphere as electric that night. But Kopsters right it has been a poor finish to the season, up until that Coventry meeting we were exceeding all the pundits expectations but then 12 defeats, (8 on the bounce) 2 draws and 2wins saw the season disappear into oblivion. It would be a shame if this season should be the end of 80 years of speedway at Arlington.

Two outstanding meetings, the win against Swindon when Floppy was injured. The second one the win against Coventry, that gave much satisfaction. As for the riders, unfortunately we will never know what type of season Floppy would have had. The rider that has improved beyond all recognition was Simon Gustafsson. After the negative attitude of some of the fans last season, he has well and truly answered all their criticisms. The other suprise was Lukas Dryml, I admit I was one of the sceptics, but he had a very good season, with the odd blip, and became a very popular rider. He seemed to gell with the fans. I maybe wrong but to my mind Lewis did not seem to improve very much. He needs to take speedway much more seriously, and he needs very firm handling. Cameron was up and down, he did put in somer memorable performances. Ricky was a bit of an enigma, good or very good part of the season, and then poor at other times. I know he had a bad virus towards the end of the season, which did not help. Beating Poole four times, drawing one and losing one. I hope the sceptics are wishing they never predicted who was going to finish bottom. AT LEAST WE DID NOT.

Did not go to many meetings this season, so my highlights are not from any particular meeting and, more important, are as yet unfulfilled. They are: 1. To know that some kind soul with deep pockets has taken over the running of speedway at Arlington. 2. To know that we are running in any league except the Elite. EB simply cannot run against the GPs every few weeks. So if anyone wants to run on Sats (which seems the best option, given EBs wide catchment area) they have to run in another league. Since MR BD seems to think the Elite is the only league to race in, then I guess my highlight will go unfulfilled. A look at the gate receipts will tell any prospective promoter all he needs to know.

Someone on the BSF has pointed out that there are already 4 Saturday teams in the PL so it would not be as smooth as you might think as we would have at least 4 away Saturdays.
Would still be better than running against GPs though.

But there are ways round these things SussexB. Combine the Elite and Premier teams, divide them North/ South or East/West and run a knockout final. That would take care of some of the Saturday problems. And you would probably ( no, not probably - certainly) have to recast the running order of heats to even out the disparity between Elite and Premier riders. So that like met like as far as possible. Dont ask me how, I am not a mathematician. Sid could do it, I am quite sure!! Desperate times need desperate measures and surely we are in desperate times for speedway. No doubt the brilliant brains of the BSPA are already thinking along these lines (no, Ray, I don't really believe that either. But like you, I live in hope.) Failing all that, I'd be happy to see EB run in the lowest league, if by so doing the meetings became viable for a promoter. Any speedway is better than no speedway. But not apparently if you are Mr BD.

but BD willnot be the promoter , if none found crazy enough to lose money in elite , as this has been for the last few years , would BD still refuse an offer from somebody prepared to offer a lifeline in a lower league ? when push came to shove , whatever we have posted on him as a promoter--- which i stand by, he would at least give this consideration . he is an eagle , dugards are , and he would have some income .he'd still be there with martin , doing what they do best .

Hope you are right Ray. As I said, for me, any speedway is better than no speedway. Hope Mr BD sees it that way. Maybe he will, before it is too late. I always enjoy lower league racing. More cut and thrust than in the Elite. And you see some of the up and comings. I'd love to see it at Arlington.

Me too emjay. I'd go a lot more than I do presently. It was brilliant in the 70's with the Kennetts, Ballards, Richardson & Sampson etc.
Shield win was the best moment for me this year.

Well I would not go more or less as I have been to every Saturday meeting except one when I had the flu. I enjoyed the old National League days too.
