Eagles v Pirates 22/03/2009

Any predictions on this meeting ?

Unfortunately I cannot make Sundays so I won't be there.
ray

mothers day is far more important , only have one mother , and doubt if i will see poole every time they visit .  my wife is a mother and our son thinks that is important . no problem in sorting out my , and our , priorities . Very Happy  Very Happy  Very Happy
ray

what will be intresting at home meetings will be how many fans take their own seats , and how empty the grandstand will be , not so "grand "last season ",and  probably even less this .  Smile
Tweagle

I'll be there. I reckon about 48 - 42ish to us. Laughing
I am concerned that we won't win many heats. Holder, Pedersen and Screen will be hard to beat.
Lucas and Ricky will need to get us a few points too. Surprised
Hope I am wrong and we thrash them like last time . Laughing
ray

yup , the best things are always worth repeating tweagle . last time was a suprise , but a wonderful one . Very Happy thought we might win , but to marmelise 'em , fantastic  Razz

What  planet are you on Ray Rolling Eyes  Sounds like you'd rather count deck chairs than watch the Speedway,  for goodness sake. Exclamation  Laughing  Laughing

don't think i want to know where you park your posterior , me in my niave and tender years , maybe you will try to get to the " bottom " of things , but be careful not to get your bottom too near of certain things !!! Laughing

Still not got my head around which rider is at reserve with little Si.
Whichever rider is thrust in to the team I think will struggle.

Don't know what their team will look like. Isn't Doyle injured?
Narrow win for us.

It is Kling at reserve with Gustafsson.

Top three are Watt, Dryml and Norris.

Yes Doyle is injured.
Bazra

Just seen that it's r/r for Doyle. Apart from Holder & Pedersen there should be no one really to scare us.

joe screen , after the way he rode on sunday ?  Surprised  Surprised

Do we still race in the same order as of recent years or is it now down to the Team manager to choose his team racing  order because if its the latter could prove interesting
sussexbulldog

Apart from No 1 and the two reserves the 2 to 5 riders can be in any order.  This is part of the keep it secret until the day strategy and why you can't print a program in advance with the riding order filled in.  Shh!!  we will get Ray going again  Laughing  Laughing
ray

in which direction david . just to wind parker up we will have to meet and sit in our chairs together . two orange chairs with two old men sitting in them , that'll start rumours .tell parker about your chair , sure he would love the hear all about bit  Laughing  Laughing

Eagles to win 49 - 41.

Poole will be out to gain a bit of revenge following that slip up they made last season when they lost out in another cup match Very Happy  Wink , so they won't want to do it again Exclamation

We will have a point to prove to all those armchair experts who have purchased and engraved the "wooden spoon" with our name already; (any suggestions where they can put it Question  Rolling Eyes ).

Has all the makings of a decent match, let's hope it is injury free.

Already 5 riders are injured, 3 may not ride again this season, and 1 had to be kept in a medically induced coma due to life threatening injuries, and the season is not yet 1 week old Shocked  Exclamation

Kinda puts things in perspective.
geecee25

I think we can win this one , floppy a be up for it , just hope ricky and lukas can put in a good performance, and lewes will entertain us , prove the pundits wrong lads.
sussexbulldog

49-41 win.  Not bad. Full results click below.

Well done to all the team. especially Simon who rode so well. Also Davey for beating their top two twice. Keep up the good work. Very Happy  Very Happy

Good win by the boys, bit of a concern with Ricky but still early days. Very Happy  Poor crowd despite the good weather though. Shocked   I doubt this Poole team will be the same one we meet on Good Friday Wink And if Belle Vue 's promoter think they can make the play offs then we will finish above them for sure, looks like the witches for the spoon for me.  Laughing

Watt: This is what we expect from a number 1
Woodward: Overall happy with cam, your not gonna get much change from racing pedersen then holder in your 1st two heats
Bridger:Scored 7 even with having engine problems all afternoon i feel more will come from him in future weeks
Dryml: Getting better and better the more he is on the track
Kling: Will need to improve to keep his place.
Gustafsson: Think his 11 points says it all

And the away leg?  Very Happy

Simon did great, he seemed to be a bit tired at the end though. Ricky needs to attack the corners like Lukas was, Floppy looked ok but his bikes didn't seem that quick. Cam and Davey did sterling whilst Lewis did well despite bike problems.

Screeny looked very good and so did Davidsson despite his fall on the last lap whilst leading  and his clash of elbows with Bridger.
Tweagle

We were very solid all round. Ricky is a bit of a worry as stated above, but everyone else did pretty well, even if Lewis and Cam who were a bit out of sorts. Cool
Massive improvement from Lukas. He made a few half decent gates and was reasonably smooth.  Razz
Simon was everything we all know he can be. He's the best reserve in the EL by a country mile. Razz  However I suspect he will be in the main body after the first set of averages come out.
No way are we a wooden spoon outfit. We are far too strong right down the order. We won comfortably today with just 6 heat winners. Razz
Anyone going to Lakeside ?. I probably am as its only a 35 minute drive away ?.

Most of the Tunbridge Wells Eagles will be there,  we enjoy a bit of "spanner" bashing Laughing  Laughing

How did Floppy look??
Tweagle

Floppy was ok. He isn't particularly fast yet but he's steady. He didn't take many risks. Actually he fell as he dived under Bjarne Pedersen in heat 13.
In his 4 heats he faced Pedersen twice Screen and Holder.

Since it was only his 2nd meeting back I would guess he must be well ahead of the improvement schedule he set himself.  Laughing

He will be well worth a middle order slot throughout the season on this showing. A score of 5+1 from 4 rides against the team tipped to be second in the EL this year must be ok imho.

Anyone out there with any track info cos for the 2nd week in a row the blue lines from poole seem to appear, are we trying out new track conditions or is this bob saving money in buying less shale
