Eagles v Hammers 25th JulyLooks like Adam Shields has broken his collarbone. A shame to miss Adam in action.
Understand they'll be using R/R.
Is it correct that we will be missing some riders due to other commitments?

Sad news about Adam..... good luck and best wishes to him.
At present I think The Eagles have a 4 man team for the fixture.... but I'm sure that an exciting new signing is about to be announced any minute.... well.... I can but hope!!!

afraid so , simon and lukas away i think . lewis would have been but failed to qualify for net round of his international competition . so what guests this time , how about adam if he fits in , but NOT skornicki and klindt again , or that peterboro bloke , feel almost glad i cannot be there until ipswich match at earliest . that sort of thing cannot happen in the premier --- oops going on about it again ! so any news of Max ?

the one with the fig leaf , hence the expression " would you adam and eve it " as my old dad used to say .make it intresting though , one heat in red , next in green [ still prefer that white helmet ] . well david , at least you are awake , i obviously was not

Lakeside have signed Swiderski to cover for the injured Adam Shields but Swiderski is missing for this meeting along with Jonas Davidsson. Bjarne Pedersen comes in as a guest and they will also use R/R.
With Davidsson missing for the Swedish championship does this meen that Simon is missing too?
|
ray
|
as posted , yes he will be missing too . so who will our two guests be ? so swiderski joins them , not for this match though . our replacement for david ?!--- still no news for us , what about max , swiderski was on our list --- so we are told . they are always telling us things but nothing seems to happen . no wonder the attendances are dwindling .so that is poole , swindon , coventryand ippo sorted too. us, still nuthin '

eagles/ lakesideWith a 4 man team ,surely we will have to use Chris Schramm (if available), Then R/R for Floppy leaving 1 guest to find surely can't be that difficult ,Can it?
|
ray
|
how can we possibly support and trust this management , some don't and no longer attend , others are thinking this way .support the team , yes , but we do not have a team so much of the time . when " they " get guests these from wolves , peterboro et al are never up to the task . what are we supposed to think ? every other team with problems sort them , our lot make them even worse . since cook left the downward slope keeps getting steeper .they may be saving money , but they will lose it at the gate
|
Kevin54
|
So what is it going tobe then?, an eagles select V a hammers select?
Teams comprising guests?
The domestic league held hostage by the whim of Olsens' empire and the FIM?
|
ray
|
kevin, as usual you are right . elite meetings are at the bottom of the priorities of everyone , including that pack of useless wasters , the bspa .if they are supposed to run and control british speedway ,. oh yes , and support it , there is no future . sometimes think they wish to dispense with the elite [ hardly be called that anymore anyway ] and have a dislike for eagles . impossible position for us , financially it seems we have to race on saturday nights , but with the afore mentioned" select" teams having to be fielded we are losing intrest and enthusiasm .
on our side , why is it all proimises and no delivery . so we lost swiderski by .2 of a point , poole get special dispensation to sign andersen and boxall . so bspa won't help us , and we have no time for bunch of self serving incompetents . they are only fit to be politicians , which they are already in their own amateurish way . as somebody has already posted --- last one out , please switch off the lights . intend to attend one more time when my wife is well again , and say goodbye to friends . after 17 seasons it has come to this .got over losing wimbledon after 26 years , i will get over this too. BUT if a miracle happens and we continue , have to be in premier , i will give it another try , perhaps
|
ray
|
so if lewis is suspended there will be only 3 eagles , r/r , and 3 guests . easy decision about attending this one . lakeside short of 2 , bjarne pedersen plus r/r in .
|
ray
|
apparently we are not allowed a guest for a suspended rider . so nobody in for bridger , we are still using r/r and we only have three eagles . what on earth is going to happen ?normally the guest facility stands for the number one rider , which is bridger.
how can it be right for eagles to suffer for the absence period of bridger applied by bspa when they were at belle vue and lost it because of rules , and to also only have 5 riders and r/r for the ban period when the club are not at fault ?!watta farce . club's fault i suppose for still failing , and now given up , on signing a replacement . what a farce our sport has become . how many fans will consider paying to watch eagles for this period -- or for the rest of the season :evil:david's change of title for website fully justified .this matter now on three threads of website the home and away fixtures and the rider's thread also .
|

|
You don't need long discussions to work out why the "Elite" League is going down the pan, just read this thread.
Who would pay anything let alone £15 +++ to watch this. Team speedway this certainly is not. 40 years supporting the Eagles and if this is how things are going to be from now on I think I will give up.
Give us the same team (barring injuries), and some variety and we will all flood back. Premier League is the only way forward.
|

after 40 years hebbs that is a helluva inditement against the situation .well BD doesn't care anymore , he has stated he is heading for the exit too . well it certainly shows even without his so called bombshell , and we don't matter .not even re-arranging the deckchairs on his titanic .

Think you will find that we are allowed a guest. See the Ipswich thread.
Edit not so sure now. It seems we would have guest if it were 28 days ban but not for two meetings.

If Im keeping up with you correctly bulldog, the latest position is that we are not allowed a guest for Lewis......
Surely the whole ethos of team Speedway (averages, points limits etc) is to ensure that teams are as equal as possible and therefore (in theory) meetings remain close and exciting.
If we are not allowed some sort of facility during Lewis' ban this whole concept is thrown out the window.
How would the teams battling with Lakeside for a play-off place feel if The Hammers walk away from Arlington with an easy 4 point victory due to Eastbourne being forced to ride without a recognised no.1?
Would we then be fined, as on Monday night, for putting out a below strength team?
Personally, I think that from now till the end of the season I will be cheering on whoever our opposition happen to be.... Why? .... Because it would be one way of hopefully getting us into the Premier League for next season (via the relegation play-off) which I reckon is our only hope of having any sort of viable future.
So.... Come On You Hammers!!!!
|
ray
|
awaiting david's clarification COUS , and any news of the THREE GUESTS and r/r for floppy . that bspa rule book must be thicker than the bible , and the compilers very dense . yeah , no more elite on saturdays , don't think many of us disagree on that . saturdays ok , as long as it is premier . if this happens then attendaces will improve . if elite there will be horrendously reduced attendances , and new promoter will need his brain tested and lose even more than the present incompetants .on the other hand there may be no speedway and most of the blame will be on the same two .

I have a question ....Against Ipswich Bridgers banned r/r for him due to 2 match ban Kylmakorpi replaces Floppy OK. Saturday against Lakeside we are looking for a big name to replace Lewis and r/r for Floppy. Now I thought when a rider is banned you can only have R/R for him have I got that wrong

Have been following all your posts and must say how disappointed I am with Lewis. Have always been a fan of him even though he has not always got things right but has certainly kept us entertained This latest episode is certainly something Bob or Trevor would not want to be dealing with as there are already enough problems
I will be there sat as Davey (especially as he has not been well), Cam, Lukas, Simon & Ricky did fantastic mon and deserve our support. Hope those riding sat will get a big cheer
Have made great friends at Arlington and very sad meetings may be numbered! Hope and pray there is someone out there who is passionate about speedway and prepared to save Eagles

Its all a complete farce at Arlington. I'll go to the Elite Pairs - which hopefully will be run competently by the super seven people - and that's it. No more of this who is going to ride for us this saturday. I'm not going to waste my money any more this season. And if there is no speedway at Arlington next season, so be it. After what we have put up with for the past few years, it will hardly be the end of the world. The poor old world (and its inhabitants) have much more serious things to worry about. Sorry about the rant guys, but really I am sick, weary and tired of the antics that go on in speedway.

My sentiments exactly emjay....
When I think back to how well the club was run when the likes of Russell Lanning and Jon Cook were around and compare it to the shambles that it is now it's enough to make you weep!!
It will be a bit of a wrench to leave "the nest" but there are 3 or 4 better run and more professional clubs that are nearer and easier for me to get to.
The only reason I've put up with the rubbish that has been served up at Arlington over recent times is out of a sense of loyalty and for old times sake from the ex White City Rebels days.
But enough is enough.....

I suppose its fair enough Bob wanting to spend all the hours keeping his company going in hard times,BUT dont just leave the speedway to rot away and you have to think hes not really what the hardcore fans feeling are as well.Has Trevor Geer got a full time job outside speedway, does anyone know? if so fair enough ,he cant spend a lot of time to chase riders.GET someone who has the time, know how.How about MRS DUGARD wHATS PAUL DUGARD DOING,OR MARTIN?even ask Bob Brim maybe to help without putting his cash on the line!! as others have said its looks like the club is running itself and there is only one way its going.

I agree with that he is well respected at R O K and liked by those who work with him. He has also given a home to many overseas young speedway riders.

my post criticised him in his speedway employment only . have no idea about with ROK , but as they wanted to keep him full or part time they must be satisfied with him . i have referred to him as " ray's friend " as he is not working by himself . BD made a suprising choice to re-select him after the critism and lack of success last season . maybe there were no other options , but whatever he has again performed well below what was required . a square peg in a round hole .

I have been incensed at the some of remarks, so I have refrained from posting any comments. It has become personal with some people, and this is not the object of this site. I wonder how many of these "fans" would be able to run a speedway team. It is far more complicated than we realise. A few people have told me that Lukas won Eastie the meeting for fencing Bjarne Pedersen twice, is this true or is it just bitter hammers fans? | It was a good meeting as far as the Eagles were concerned after 8 straight defeats. The crowd about 900 bit more than some might have predicted, not as many Hammers fans as usual though.True Lukas gave Pedersen a hard time unlucky to be excluded in his first race but definately nudged him into the fence for his second exclusion, the reason for Pedersens withdrawl wasnt given.Heat 14 was a talking point Robson I believe lost control on the second bend lap2 made no attempt to get up hence the race was stopped and at the time awarded to Eastbourne as we were well ahead and had completed two laps before the lights came unfortunately Cupofcoffee hadnt completed 2 laps so Cook was quick to point out to the referee that all riders had to complete 2 laps before the race could be awarded and of course in the re run Kylmakorpi duly won it.

Yes Lukas ran Bjarne wide in his first race nut was harshly excluded when Bjarne fell as he ran out of room, should have been all 4 back. The next crash Lukas was clearly faster and nudged Bjarne on the exit of bend 4 and as he passed Bjarne it looked like his footrest went into Bjarne's front wheel, a racing incident really although I guess Lukas was corectly excluded in that one. Interesting comments from Lewis' grandad and Trevor Geer during the interval and clearly they didn't agree! As you all know I'm a big Lewis fan but cannot defend on this. Clearly there is more to the whole situation than has been reported as Trevor unwittingly gave away last night but at present I'm not sure I want to drag that up!

Clearly there is more to the whole situation than has been reported as Trevor unwittingly gave away last night but at present I'm not sure I want to drag that up! | I havent always been a real Lewis fan perhap because IMO hes never shown full dedication to his sport, he's obviously got a talent. In this instance he made an error of judgement whether under pressure from the Poles or not. Hes been dealt with by club and the BSPA, what ever we post on here about it wont make an difference to Lewis, hes still growing up and will only learn by the mistakes he continues to make. Whether Trevors right or his Grandfather, we will probably never know. Whether Lewis ever realises his true potential is down to him we can't live his live for him.

absolutely true , we have been on the roller coaster with him , sometimes some of us have tried to get off . but he is so exiting , but must broaden his horizons of speedway and life . some guy called briggo was very similar in many ways , hope lewis will emulate him . has to ride with and against the best , so it will have to be overseas . the risks he takes[ and all speedway riders ] it is only right he should be paid enough for it . no , no point in manchester city trying to sign him , but he deserves to move onto the top . what a schedhule riders like him have , what injuries occur , the travelling alone is incredible . move on lewis ,if we run next season [ oh please !!!!] dugard will not be promoter but his promise must be honoured , think he probably has some ownership of lewis , and hopefully we will be in the premier .if it goes this way , then premier will change like previous amalgamation did , and maybe some of the team can be fitted in , including lukas . add to this other junior assets , sounds exciting .
we can dream , can't we

At this moment in time there is no chance of any team from the Elite League stepping down. As long as the Elite League reamins 10 or below, the Premier League will NOT allow any Elite League team to step down After this year there will probably be only 8 teams, unless any of the Premier decide to step up. This I rather doubt, because of the cost.
|

see response in "season's last meeting " thread chances of elite having 8 teams or more is financially remote . it will onlyhave as many as can afford and wish to join , so they are likely of running with less , or not running at all
