Eagles v Aces 20/06/2009Review on our front page.
Do you think we can win based upon Monday's form ?

Eagles v Aces 20/06/2009Based on Mondays performance probably not, however Belle Vue seem to be as bad when riding away. As Lewis won't be riding on saturday will be interested to see if we can get a guest and if so who?
Think it could be an interesting match on saturday as both teams have alot to prove.

At the moment they have pencilled in Travis McGowan as a replacement rider for Lewis. The only thing they are uncertain of is whether Travis's Polish team may want him on the Saturday for practice. Hope they do not leave it until the last moment if this happens.

Eastbourne Eagles have booked Kenneth Hansen of Peterborough to guest for Lewis Bridger when they host Belle Vue Aces in the Elite League on Saturday.
Full story on front page.

What with Kenneth Hansen being the best we could come up with as guest for Lewis - a Peterborough reserve for our current no.1 scorer - and Charlie Gjedde riding at reserve for Belle Vue.....
.....this could be a tougher meeting than we might have been expecting.

Belle Vue's other reserve is Ricky Ashworth.

I'm struggling to remember a more inept performance by an Eastbourne team at Arlington against such weak opposition.
And what an inspired choice of guest!!!

just had a quick look where Hansen has been riding this week and although he tried hard he must of mentally be shattered as he was racing in denmark, wednesday for the panthers ,thurs and friday and us tonight!! I dont know if he rode in sweden on tuesday but that is a tough ask for anyone!!

Quite agree with you, Cous.
A colleague of mine was there for the first time yesterday, but fortunately he said he had seen enough to want to come back.
Can anyone remember the last time Eastbourne fielded a team with no Englishmen in it?

And what an inspired choice of guest!!! | It was disappointing to say the least, out gated and beaten by the bottom team. The only bit of fight in the team appeared to be amongst themselves. Hanson scored 10pts on his last visit here so I can see why management went for him, but as a replacement for Lewis..hardly Hope it was only the constraints of Lewis average rather than financial

Where was the atmosphere?
Where was the passion?
where was the commitment?
We tried hard to rally the team from the stand and even we were quiet by our own standards
Lukas only waved a couple of times .
So my message to Trevor is this.
Have a big team talk and sort out any problems there are Quickly.
We must go to our next meet against Swindon with a fire in our bellys.

What a difference a couple of weeks makes.
Bobs' "Churchill" impression galvanises the team to a superb win against Coventry "Cheaters".
Kept them on course for a play-off position.
Then "That" vote, backed by our own management, possibly ruling us out of a play-off slot and thereby denying us a chance of a tilt at the title.
(O.K., so a team finishing 6th, and called champions is a joke, but to the riders, it is a piece of silverware.)
Is it any wonder they possibly felt a bit flat, something that was possibly within their grasp had been snatched away, and their own management had played a part in it.
Still did not make the performance last night against a team below us, on our own track, excusable.
Might make it a little bit understandable, though.

Eagles v Aces 20/06/2009Have to agree with all of the comments so far, but am surprised that no-one has commented Christina's decisions.
I saw more passion in the pits particulary after Lukas and Davey clashed on the track - didn't see the incident on the track but Lukas clearly felt it was Daveys fault as Lukas managed to get his fingers trapped in the bike. I did think at one point a fight was going to break out, Davey then threw his toys out of the pram and had a go at Trevor saying that he shouldn't let Lukas talk to him like that, there was a distinct lack of team spirit last night between the guys and when there was any it was too little too late. I really think BD and TG haave boobed over the RR for Floppy since he has been injured and if after Friday he is still not fit to ride then they need to do something about it instead of chasing after uninterested Russians.

COME ON YOU EAGLES | I agree start the evening with "Good Old Sussex by the Sea" and ending with 3pts in the bag to "Land of Hope and Glory" what happened to the partizan crowd Trump commented on. Last night the riders lacked any team spirit, (Davey did clip Lukas to bring him down, Racing accident) the MC had more interest in the F1 Grand Prix today than the meeting last night. Best bit was a possible punch up between Bob and Chris Morton MBE. Management whinge about the lack of support but many more nights like last night there will be few supporters left.

And what an inspired choice of guest!!! | I agree with you COUS, it was a disgraceful performance. I could not believe my eyes, several of them rode like novices. We certainly missed Lewis, the choice of replacement was abysmal. Unfortunately Lewis has not got his new average, so I would imagine replacements were few. What is going to happen when Dryml and Bridger are both missing against Peterborough. I believe both of them are on international duty of some sort. I do hope that both BD and TG had a go at the whole team. Both Davey and Lukas have ridden together before, so there was no need for the incident in heat 13. Their seemed to be no team spirit or passion to win . God help us if this their frame of mind when Swindon visit us on 29th June.

A very dissapointing evening and I really could not believe the results or some of the referee's decisions.

I wonder if she was nervous, because Frank Ebdon was with her, apparantly she has to be assessed every year for a few years. This perhaps helped us to lose the match, though to be honest the riders themselves were 95% to blame. I very much doubt we will make the play-offs, so it is going to be an early close to the season, unfortunately.

If we're looking to blame the referee for that shambolic performance I reckon we're kidding ourselves.....
How about looking at....
We've got probably the worst no.1 in the league (Davey Watt)...
We've got maybe the most inconsistent heat leader in the league (Lukas Dryml)...
We've got possibly the most under performing rider in the league (Cameron Woodward)...
And...
We've got certainly the most ineffective and inactive management in the league.
They are issues that I'm more concerned about.

A pethetic performance against a very week looking Ace's side. woefull gating, no team riding (the opposite infact!), riders slipping off under no pressure and some awfull decisions from the ref who seemed intent on holding the riders at the gate for as long as possible!
RE the playoff's, we would have been in a good posistion had we taken 3 points from the meeting but I can't see us doing it now. In my view we are missing a rider who can win races consistantly ie a proper number 1, yes we have strength in depth BUT they all have to perform, if 1 or 2 go missing we struggle, that has happened too many times this season.
EDIT...
COUS beat me to it there, I think thats a fair assessment, We could still bring in a higher average rider as we are in the posistion of having 2 riders on 'false' averages but somehow I can't see it happening.

| What mistakes did the ref make? comments have been made about the time she held the riders at the gate but there was a lot of moving. Lukas was brought down by Watt, who I agree is a shadow of his former self at present. Simons spill she got that right and Cameron exclusion I'd have to take the word of those on the 3rd bend. True she was under a bit of pressure with Ebden there, but we can hardly use that as an excuse we were poor to say the least.

Absolutely woeful ... we are going backwards in my opinion?
Have to agree with a previous post insomuch as Watt must be the worse No.1 in the league? I know he has had injuries but has been a major dissapointment in my book. Bridger and Gustafsson are the two highlights this year. Think Kling has done all that could be expected of him and Dryml is inconsistent but he's been like that most of his career. Woodward is as ever, poor away from Arlington and continues to have too many falls and exclusions. Floppy clearly isn't coming back soon (if at all) so lets get someone in or at least start booking better guests (pity we can't get McGowan evey week !!). Hansen?? Its just a joke.

Agree with nearly everything here. Not clear about Floppy though. I thought he was planning a return next Monday.?
I thought Christina's refereeing might have been a bit more favourable to us. All the contentious calls seemed to go against us, but there were no blatant errors, apart from holding the tapes too long before release. I thought they had jammed in Heat 1 but then Hansen went through them anyway.
He was absolutely shocking, but he was in good company last night.

You can almost see what is going to happen in the coming Winter. Watt's average will have dropped so that Poole include him again in their team and we take Bjarne Pedersen on a years loan as our number one because Poole are releasing him.

Much depends whether BD finds it viable to run next year. If the economic climate is like this next year, how many teams will be able to race in 2010.

Anyone see the result from Kirky Lane last night....
Belle Vue 36 Coventry 53
So how bad must we have been to have been stuffed both home and away by The Aces.
But not to worry.... it's only Swindon next!!!!!

This is only because Coventry have four heatleaders in they team. The ones which scored the points were the four riders the other three didn't get much.
