Did Bob "boob" over the track on Monday?Just as a postscript to the "epic" on Monday, Steve Shovlar, the seemingly self appointed "King" of the posters and general know it all on BSF  , has started a thread saying on there that the track was dangerous, poorly prepared and responsible for the majority of the crashes.
Seeing as Swindon were 10 - 2 up by heat 3 it must have been very poor 
Just wonder what folk here think?
Personally I subscribe to the view that a combination of a strongdrying wind, sun ALL the riders "going" for it with some being a bit over zealous perhaps, all contributed to an unusual and spectacular evening.

Steve Shovlar does come out with some (I will be polite) rubbish quite regularly. For someone so "knowledgeable" he doesn't seem to understand a lot does he!
None of the riders seemed to consider the track preparation to be a problem. You can't help the weather and it was quite obvious that the weather that day was going to contribute quite a lot to how the track was going to be.
I agree with you Kevin they were all desperate to win that match, put on a good show for Sky and to show what an exciting sport this is and they managed it all but at quite a price for some.

Invariably I dont tend too read such rubbish about Eastbournes track preparation when it is voiced by supporters. The vast majority of whom....(me included) have never thrown their legs over a speedway bike so the reality of it is.... we know nothing about how a bike behaves on track in whether its slick or grippy.
The only people who's views are worth reading are the riders themselves. I have yet to hear any rider publicly slate Bobs preparation, Crump and Holder both track record holders have steeped praise on Bobs efforts. The list goes on Pedersen Hancock and Harris from the current crop. From the past Rickardsson - Gundersen - Schwartz - Ermolenko who were no mugs. The list is huge for those who care to give a moment or two to think about it.
These people know what they are talking about, not those who in many cases have a dim view of our club -riders and promotion who stand on the terracing or hide behind a screen taking cheap shots.

I agree with all the comments. As spectators we do not have the knowledge about the preparation of a track or how a bike will perform on it, only our opinions. It is very rare for BD to prepare a bad track, but the combination of a very high wind and sun did not help. Anyway who is this Steve Shovlar.  None of the riders seem to complain, and certainly Swindon in the first two races had no complaints. I have seen much worse tracks, take the ones being raced on for the GP's.

Your given this Steve Shovlar to much credence..........Just ignore it. Aussie, he's just a poole fan on a national speedway forum where there is a fair amount of idle banter between rival club supporters (Sussex Bulldog posts  )nothing more  As for the meeting even Rossiter never really complained about the track. True he did ask for a regrade, more I think because his riders were going into bends 1&2 too hot..... according to Tatum that is.

I do wonder if he is just a wind up merchant or if he actually does believe some of the cr*p he posts. It's a bit ironic that any Poole supporter should dare to slag off any Eastbourne track. I've been to Poole many times and not been able to see any speedway for all the dust comming at me from the track.

Just read Bobs comments on the front page and thanks again to David for putting the info up and making sure we always get the up to date news promply, a lot of other web sites take note !! I have to agree with Bob that there was nothing wrong with the track and if you were a racer and prepared to have a go you were fine, Lewis, cam and also Davey with an injury overtook Batch on the third bend as if he was standing still!!!

I am glad BD has come out fighting about the track for last Monday's meeting. It is very rare for him to prepare a bad track, and he has always held up his hands if he thought the track was not up to standard. After the fiasco of the previous GP it was good to see a track with plenty of dirt on it. The more experienced riders coped with it, other riders who are used to a slick track did not. As BD said the starts were even, therefore they were almost gating together and getting to the first/second bends at the same time. I did get annoyed with the persistence of the commentators continually harping on about the track. I would like to see if they could prepare a track for a meeting, taking into account the vagaries of the british weather. Perhaps if the track at Leszno had had more dirt on it we would have seen better racing, it was so boring.

From my view point under the roof on the entry to the first bend the track looked excellent and produced some terrific racing.... will we ever see a better overtake than Cams in heat 15?
Most of the incidents were caused by "first bend bunching" when all the riders got to the corner at the same time.
Maybe the moaners would prefer Bob to doctor the starts so that the riders are more spread out!!!
Fisher and Pavlic more or less admitted that their falls were down to "coming in too hard".
Floppy and Batch came together because Troy "ignored the red lights".
Lewis' injury was caused by a chain flying off.
None of those can be blamed on the track.
It was just one of those freak meetings, hugely entertaining, but a shame that there were a number of injuries. Something that none of us want to see but we all know is part and parcel of the sport and could happen at any time..... and of course we all send our best wishes to the guys who were unfortunately injured.
How can anyone who saw Lewis, Cam and Davey flying round inches from the fence suggest that there could be anything wrong with the track??

Bob may have his faults but to my mind he is certainly among the top 3 track men around.

if there was enough dirt on the track he should be buried under it . maybe he knows that so keeps it slick . wonder if they [ presumably FIM ] have noticed how poor the racing is . probably too busy enjoying the free champagne and caviar . nose it trough time .
