Thought Davey Watt (12pts) and Lewis(12pts) went well   Floppy(8pts )looks like he will improve his average Cameroon (9pts) improved as the meeting progressed, Dryml (3pts), Simon(5pts) and Kling (3pts) Hans Andersen won with13pts other top scorers Scott Nicholls 12pts B Pedersen 10pts     Good crowd for a good team rider

Some Positives, Some Concerns

Overall a very enjoyable meeting, and a surprisingly big crowd. Razz
Hans Anderson was the best rider on view and was a worthy winner. Scotty also went well, and I was amazed by Joe Screen's form.
Of the Eagles, Davey Watt ( 12pts - 2nd) looked  proper heat leader quality to me and Lewis ( 12pts - 4th) was tremendous. Floppy rolled back the years ( 8pts ) and I think we can rest easy - on this form he is no risk. He'll be well worth a place in the top 5. Cameron (9 pts ) did well in his last 2 rides after the fall and looked pretty decent.
Simon ( 5pts ) did just about ok, I thought and will be better than most reserves in the EL.
Ricky ( 2pts ) was pretty disappointing.  I was expecting him to go far better as he had some decent scores against us last year at Arlington.
Lucas ( 2pts )was last out of the gate on every ride if I remember right. He couldn't even pass Shane Parker in Heat 10.
I am worried that what seemed good about his riding on the P&P day was misleading. He needs a massive improvement on today I fear. Crying or Very sad
So some big +ve's and some big worries was my take on events.

Just wanna say a big thankyou for ed kennett turning out today for your supposed friend, anyone know on his whereabouts?
ray

what is that about nug ?, unfortunately my car was in garage so i could not make it , was really looking forward to it . only following your post i realised ed was not riding . any explanation ? Confused
nug

none what so ever regarding ed. I did speak to hans after the meeting regarding some big names not riding over here and he seems to think that if the b fixtures were scraped then many would come back, he was very approachable and was a plessure talking to him

Really enjoy it today. Nice to see a good turn out for Deano. Where was Kevin today was he karting. It's seem like eddie and Bob Dugard had abit of a row over the past week and this could be the reason why Mr Kennett wasn't here. It was really nice to see floppy going good. Lukas Dryml and Ricky Kling was a bit concern not getting much. Well lets hope for a better showing next week.

Nope, he was there, I saw him wondering round. Don't know why we were lumbered with Millard Mad  he hardly got the crowd going did he? and we never even got to hear from Deano...

All in all a good turnout for Deano but poor presentation left me feeling this meeting could have been so much better!

At least Millard never mentioned Mildura....As for the comment regarding presentation what with good weather a big crowd good opportunity to put on a good show and I agree that had Kevin been there I believe more would have been done in interviewing Deano etc  Shame about Eddie not showing I'm not really surprised even allowing for Deanos comments in the Speedway Star. It was an enjoyable curtain raiser to the new season and in hindsight as MrB posted maybe an opportunity missed to project Speedway in Sussex.

Show of disrespect I would say.

The disagreement is between him and "management", not the other riders and fans, by not turning up, he has let them down.
Dean clearly wanted him to be there, by his comments; presumably BD had no problem with him riding, so presumably the decision to turn his back on his former team-mate was Kennetts'.

Very professional Exclamation  Rolling Eyes

On the bsf, sussex bulldog had stated that ed kennett was seen wondering around the stadium. I think has has miss read a post from this site, Kevin Coombes was the one to be seen wondering around the stadium and not kennett

Nug thanks for pointing that out.  I will post a correction on BSF.

" millard " ough --- reach for the mute button when he in on Sky . gibbering idiot , actually spoils it . actually i dare say many of us turn sound off during races , after all we do without it when watching it , not on tv . oh dear , so millard , no thank you speech from deano  , really ? how ludicrous -- see they have still no idea about presenting , nor promoting . Sad
as for BD  , think most of us realise when he dislikes somebody , sometimes without thinking it through , it is for life . Sad

With one thing and another, I only managed to watch the first 11 heats and then the last 2! Joe Screen was the stand out man for me in the meeting, I expected some of the other scores but Joe put in a performance at Arlington that I have not seen him do for a good few years. Lovely to see Floppy do well, Cam showed that he has only been back for a week or so and showed great improvement as the meeting went on. I’m not a fan of either Dryml or Kling but they both did worse than I thought they would but yesterday was just a testing time for riders and no real judge of real form other than just an inkling.

Good day and a good farewell for Deano

Another point, sorry.... Embarassed

For the old folk on the forum, like myself, has Gordon Kennett changed at all on a bike since we last watched him ride? I could not believe it when he was throwing that bike into turn 3, hugging the white line then throwing that left leg back again and flying off down the home straight. What was his best time, 61 secs? Pure class that man, pure class........ Cool

Was sorry to have missed this meeting including the chance to see Gordon Kennett ride.  He was always one of my favourites.

I agree with you MD about Screen, what is it with riders who go to Poole and suddenly up their game, like Skornicki last season.

Thought Sunday was a enjoyable start to the season, nice sunny day no howling  march winds as in previous seasons. Some good signs from the riders too. Floppys first comeback heat win, Cameron improving as the meeting went on as did Simon. Watty same gritty performance as usual. Lewis if he continues riding he  did Sunday he will surely have the season we know he is capable of. I thought other than Hans Andersen, who looked on the ball from the start, the two riders that impressed me the most was Lewis and Screeny. To early to make a judgements on Dryml and Kling they obviously need time to get used to the track, its ok doing practise laps but laps against opponents are entirely different. With a bit of luck we could have some enjoyable Saturday nights this season. Wink

Did anyone see any poole fans down there? I ask this because i think they brought the famous blue line from there track with them. Any one with any thoughts on sundays track
