Coventry v Eastbourne 31st August.

It looks like we are still stuck with the same riding order.

It looks like the pathetic Kling has kept his place in the team.

So how many do we thing we're gonna lose by?

I'll go for (optimistically) 12 points.
ray

maybe grabbing at straws COUS , but some away matches such as wolves and coventry , our competativeness and effort seems to have been better than recent home matches . a few were decent achievements , though belle vue and ipswich hammered us on our visits .
ComeOnYouSpurs

Not sure where your air of optimism comes from ray...

We've only come away with points from 3 away meetings so far this season.

The draw at Poole (possibly thanks to the weather intervening at heat 12)

The win at Poole (mainly thanks to the contribution of guest Travis McGowan)

...and the 6 point defeat at Peterborough.

Not exactly inspiring confidence for tonight!!
MD

Eastbourne for a point tonight, Cov think they have the three points in the bag already..
ray

hope , not optimism COUS . the point i was making was that sometimes we have made a match of it at some of the best teams , but failed miserably at those below us .

Think you may be clutching at straws Ray, in the away A fixture against Coventry we lost 38-55 against Wolves in the 2 away fixtures we lost 39-55 & 42-50. Wink
ray

so  a couple of hidings , maybe i should have said swindon  Wink  , 4 at aces and ippo .that is where , in theory , we stood some chance of something . but theories are something politicans and priest believe in  Razz  Rolling Eyes
Kevin54

36 -30 to us according to on-line results from next door, not sure which heat weare on, Kennett doing us some favours, perhaps BD has slipped hime some notes Exclamation  Exclamation  Wink

I just can't get my head around this team this year! A few weeks ago we just miss out on a point at Swindle (who beat Poole easily tonight) then we have 2 woefull home meetings where it looks like the riders are just going through the motions now this Confused

Edit:
Again Ricky fails to beat a rider and only scores a point due to Allen getting excluded. If he was/is ill why is he riding?
ComeOnYouSpurs

Amazing.... would the real Eastbourne Eagles please stand up!!

Final score: Bees 45 Eagles 45

A great draw and 2 points that will hopefully keep us off the bottom.

Great performances by:

Lewis 11+1 (5 rides)
Simon 9+3 (5 rides)
Lukas 9 (4 rides)
Daniel 6+1 (4 rides)

Daniel was apparently injured and taken from the track by ambulance after a clash with Ben Barker. Any news on his condition? Best wishes Daniel.

Those performances should have ensured a victory but there were disappointing efforts from:

Cameron 5 (4 rides) - Beaten from behind by Ricky Wells
Davey 4+1 (4 rides) - a 1-5 after gating in heat 12 behind Oli Allen & Ben Barker
The pathetic Kling 1 (4 rides) only scored following the exclusion of Oli Allen.

Well done to the top 4.
Should do better to the remaining 3.

Just a final thought.... should Daniel be injured I wonder if our management team will be able to find a decent replacement in time for Fridays meeting at Lakeside!!

I agree. Nobody in their right mind would bet big money on what the Eagles results were going to be or the points that each rider would achieve. Talk about Jekyll and Hyde.  I think tonight was a great result but looking at the scorers its another case of the riders expected to do well letting us down and vice versa except possibly Ricky who has gone completely off the rails. Funnily enough he did exactly the same last year at Lakeside. I'm wondering whether certain risers are trying to reduce their averages for next year?
Davey Watt  this year is a massive disappointment. He says he has back problems but after his recent performances  for Eastbourne it will leave a bitter taste to me now if he qualifies for the GP next year after tonight.
ray

yes amazing COUS  Surprised ,what do you think parker  Shocked  Rolling Eyes  Question
have to agree about " dead wood " mentioned . so much for my suggestion that davey was wasted at number 3 , especially in heat 12  Embarassed if eagles , by some amazing miracle , were to be in elite next year , who would you retain and who would be for the knackers yard ???
we have to wonder how many riders ride when unfit to do so , and does team manager actualy check this with them ? watta stupid question , sorry  Embarassed surely the problem must be disclosed , are riders so in need of the money , it lets the whole team , the paying customers, infact  the whole club , down . we have seen this before and it has cost us matches , once against poole richardson retired after not even finishing his first ride . davey , particularly seem to ride with injuries. suppose the rider himself should know Shocked  Confused  Surprised  Question
ComeOnYouSpurs

We've seen before that Poole aren't averse to manipulating the averages and bending the rules when it suits them.

Perhaps a certain Mr Watt has been tipped the wink that he'll be back with the Pirates next year.... as long as his average fits!

It'll be interesting to see how he performs in our final few matches.
ray

i hear what you say , COUS , may well be truth to that , especially if as rumoured they are after lewis as well . think pedersen will be out , and screen . both past their sell-by dates . not only are they not up for it , their bikes aren't either .likely they will not have andersen either.i have always been an aussie riders fan , but our two are causing me to have doubts  Sad
management actually signed a good replacement for floppy -- at last . well nobody gets everything wrong all the time  Laughing  Embarassed
nermark is what we needed .trouble is we need replacements for a couple of the others it would seem .bit late now though Rolling Eyes
sussexbulldog

Coventry report on front page.

Hope Daniel is ok.
speedy dan boy

good effort from the team, pleased to see lewis and lukas back in the points.would have been happy with the draw before the match started but in the end think we were a bit unlucky not to get a win.could go on and say why we never won but it was a great effort by most of the team.

Like you MrB I cannot understand what is going on with the team. Confused  Two very woeful meetings at home, and then to nearly beat Coventry, it is just amazing. Surprised  Like many supporters we are left wondering if averages are being manipulated. Question  Davey Watt's form has certainly dipped, if he is not fit, then he should not be riding, the same goes for Ricky Kling. Just got the new averages : Watt 7.28, Bridger 7.15. Gustafsson 5.98, Dryml 5.69, Woodward 5.16, Nermark 5.10, Kling 4.51. As much as we sometimes moan about Lewis he has put 2.04 on his average, and Simon 1.70 for 2009 Surprised . The averages of the rest of the team have dipped from 2008. Shocked  Hope Daniel is okay, does anybody have any news of him. Hopefully he is not badly injured, but as we know he has shoulder problems.
ray

have posted about fitness of riders to ride , we know many ride with injuries , it has alwaysc been so . but fitness to ride is vital . agree completely with aussie2 and others . the rider surely knows when he is unable to ride up to standard , and must make sure he is and inform the team manager if he is not fit to ride . then a guest can be arranged , which is unique at our sport .
loss of form , bikes not up to scratch [ like some of ours  recently and poole's at swindon], or a track where a rider is never at his best are something else . that is why reserves are so vital . Idea  Idea
ComeOnYouSpurs

Aussie2.... I know you were at Arlington on Friday so you probably heard Davey say that he was fully fit and raring to go....

Fit?.... Possibly.
Raring to go?.... Based on his last 2 performances clearly not.

Speedway is such a numbers based sport that is open to all sorts of manipulation which in turn breeds all kinds of conspiracy theories.

Unfortunately we are only the "mugs" whose hard earned cash goes some way towards helping the clubs and therefore the sport survive.

As such we're always likely to be the last to know what's really going on.

Now another subject.....

Surely it's time for the pathetic Kling to be shown the door.

Based on the averages that you listed we'd have 6.23 points available to bring in a replacement.

This would allow Cameron to drop to reserve where, despite his poor season to date, he should be a real trump card, and providing Daniel is fit to take his place in the team we'd have a really strong reserve pairing.

I haven't gone into names yet but give me a while and I'm sure I'll be able to think of a few possibilities.

What do the rest of you think?

If I was Matt Ford my first target would be Gustafsson.

absolutely parker . he will reach the very top , and such a pleasant young guy .would hate to see him riding against us a real conlict , like mark and adam . he's that special .

Well done armchair fans, looked at the scorechart and got it wrong again. No change there then. Daniel left the track on monday with a rather sore lower back. He is due to ride in Sweden on tues and thurs, but i think it doubtful he will. As for friday, we ll have to wait and see.

Well done for being there harry.... can I ask where you are based?

I've got to admit that having blown £50 and spent nearly 2 hours on the M25 for the debacle at Arlington on Friday, I really couldn't face the prospect of what looked like being another severe beating. Happily I was mistaken.

But exactly what is it that we got wrong?

Sophies Mate

According to todays local paper (Eastbourne Gazette) after having a check up at the local hospital it appears that Daniel is suffering from bruised ribs only - I should say just only as I know how painful that is but hopefully he will be fit to ride!
ComeOnYouSpurs

Good news Sophies Mate.....

Lets hope that Daniel is ok for Friday.

At least we'd have one decent reserve....... or could the pathetic Kiling burst from his shell of mediocrity and stun us all with a performance par excellence and a bag full of points?

Any news on the Lakeside line up yet?

If Adam is back do we know who they will be releasing?
sussexbulldog

According to Dave A's site

Lakeside

Richardson
Nieminen
Davidsson
Shields
Swiderski
Mear
Robson

Eagles

Davey Watt (C)

Not sure why Simon is likely to be missing ?

That is not the Lakeside line up at all........

For a start it does not fit under the points limit and Robbie Mear could be out for the season with a broken knuckle

Thanks Mark.  It just goes to show how reliable information posted by Dave A is  Laughing
ray

so , oh magnanimous leader , you are saying he is reliably unreliable . what dealings i had with him been pathetic from his end , see it hasn't changed  Wink
according to official website nermark should be ok , with only bruised ribs . well that is enough to slow anyone down anyway .
these two comments goes to show how superior our site as to the other two also-rans  Razz
barker sounds rather dangerous , ----- to other riders  Rolling Eyes

Latest news on our front page.  Davey to No 1 so presumably Lewis to 5 ?
ray

would you put it passed trevor to ride r/r at 5 ?! 3 would seem to be best . heat 12 instead of 13 . Idea
Aussie2

Simon is on international duty. He is captaining the Swedish Team in  the Under 21 World Team Cuo final in Grozow, Poland. As the they have to report for bike examination at 8 a.m. on Saturday morning. Unfortunately there is not an early flight which would get him  their in time. I would assume we would be able to have a rider in his place as he is on international duty, his new average is 5.98 or are they going to go with our new man R/R again. Hopefully Daniel will be fit for Friday. To me Simon has been the revalation of our 2009 team. Many supporters forget this only his second full season racing in the Elite League. Smile  Wink
