Quote:
New South Wales rider Chris Holder remains undefeated in the Australian Solo Motorbike speedway title after round three at Mt Gambier on Saturday night.

Holder won a pretty straight forward A final while two Mildura riders staged a fantastic two rider war in the B final in one of the most exciting races of the whole series.

Holder, who started from gate two beat out UK rider Joe Screen at the start while Troy Batchelor darted up to third in the A Final.
Holder and Batchelor had the quickest heat wins on the night but for a brief moment in the final Screen had a chance to put pressure on the leader but Holder surged away and has a maximum 60 points from the three rounds.

The B final began sensationally when Tom Hedley burst from gate two to hit the front over Filip Setera but within three quarters of a lap Cameron Woodward from the outside gate four had swept around the outside to challenge.

The two Mildura riders then slogged it to the finishing line with Hedley drifting just a fraction wider on the last bend but Woodward - close to the outside fence kept his line and charged away with extra drive coming out of the bend to snatch victory in the last few bike lengths

Coming to Mt Gambier Hedley was 16th from sixteen but with the troubles of recent weeks behind him he put in a mighty comeback.
In fact the big improver could easily have been in the A Final had he not touched the tapes and been excluded in a heat.

Hedley won two heats on the night and when excluded, reserve replacement James Holder scored two points. In fact Hedley could well have edged out Troy Batchelor from the A Final but it was not to be and he ended up having second pick for gate position in the B Final.
Mildura's Cameron Woodward also made the B Final despite a tough start when he scored zero points.

That was because he drew the toughest heat of the night - Joe Screen (England); Filip Setera (Czech Republic) and Troy Batchelor.
Screen ended up the top point scorer of the night, Batchelor made the A final and next best qualifier was Setera, who had first gate pick for the B final.

Travis McGowan of Mildura did not ride in the third round but is yet to advise officials of whether he is fit to ride in Newcastle or Sydney.
However indications are he would be doubtful for the two final rounds.
The last heat held up the staging of the two finals when NSW rider Richard Sweetman went straight into fence in the first lap. After being treated while lying on the track the youngster was taken to Hospital with bruising and for observation.

HEAT POINTS:
Joe Screen (UK) 14pts, Chris Holder (NSW) Fredrik Lindgren (Sweden) 13; Troy Batchelor (Qld) 11, Filip Setera (Czech Republic) 10, Jason Doyle (NSW), Tom Hedley, Cameron Woodward (both Mildura) 9, Robert Ksiezak (SA), Richard Sweetman (NSW) and Josh Grajczonek (Qld) 5pts; Tyron Proctor (Vic) 4; Lee Herne (NSW) 3, Cory Gathercole (Mildura) Trveor Harding (WA), James Holder (NSW) 2, Aaron Summers (SA) 1pt

A FINAL:
Chris Holder 1; Joe Screen 2; Troy Batchelor 3, Fredrik Lindgren 4.

B FINAL:
Cameron Woodward 1; Tom Hedley 2; Jason Doyle 3, Filip Setera 4.

OVERALL POINTS (unofficial):
Chris Holder 60, Troy Batchelor 50, Cameron Woodward, Joe Screen, Fredrik Lingren 47; Jason Doyle 40, Filip Setera 39; Robert Ksiezak 31, Travis McGowan (Mildura) 29, Corey Gathercole 28, Aaron Summers, Tyron Proctor 22, Tom Hedley 20, Josh Grjczonek 17, Trevor Harding, Lee Herne 13pts, Richard Sweetman 10, James Holder 3

Saw on the teletext about the Australian Championship. Well done Cameron, looking forward to seeing him at Arlington in the 2008 season. It must give him great confidence for the coming season, and to know that he is in the 2008 qualifiers. Very Happy  Very Happy

Speedway Star says Martin Hagon is giving him two of Lee Richardson's bikes from last season. Apparently the bikes he was using last year weren't very good and when he was loaned bikes at the end of the season his scores jumped into double figures ones.
Good signs for March!  Wink

wasn't it the match when he borrowed Davey's bike that he got his highest score and was looking good for heat 15 but didn't feel too good and didn't take it?
SteveC

Thats great news.
It has always looked like he has the speed but struggled with equipment.
Not only that but I think it bodes well that Martin is getting involved with sorting out equipment.
The times I have heard people say they are struggling with machinery but the managemnet just except it...looks like MH wont
rayjay2

absolutely sonic , think it frightened the life outta him .! won't be borrowing it this season , but sounds like he won't have to .
Kevin54

Two bikes, being given to him?
That has got to be worth a few bob, reckon MH must see a good bit of potential in him to do that!

Also shows that MH is comitted to making sure we have a good, competitive squad.
Hebbs

I agree it's very good news that Martin Hagon is helping the team sort out their equipment, shows real involvement.

His shocks are good as well. They have helped improved the handling of my Kettle (Suzuki GT750) from suicidal to mildly scarey. Smile

According to the BSF:-

Victorian champion Cameron Woodward shared favouritism with them at the beginning of the week but he withdrew a few days ago following an accident on his moto-cross bike. New South Wales riders Ben and Kurt Shields also withdrew during the week.

I think he came off the back of the bike pulling the front end up...    Very Happy

He seemed fine when he emailed me the other day and spoke about next season.....He just said he was not that happy with the way he went in the Aussie's, was not signed up for Sweden next year but is doing Poland and looking towards the UK season. I rate Cam a lot, apart from him being a really nice bloke, he has a lot going for him on a bike and think he could well be close to Dave's stats next year. Very much underated IMHO Rolling Eyes
Aussie2

Thanks MD for the in formation on Cam. Glad he is okay, he has been one of my favourite riders for sometime. Looking forward to seeing him in 2009. Perhaps he is getting the falls out of the way now.  Wink
