Bees v Eagles... Friday 22nd May

Another thrashing.... or a memorable change in fortunes.

I know which I'd go for.... what about the rest of you?

This time last season we would have been going there with Nicholls, Richardson and Kennett and would win. Now we are going there with Watt.......and .......er.
What rules will they bring in this winter.........nobody over 8.5? Sad

this will decide for some whether they go on saturday .several posted how last season started falling apart when losing at home mainly because of an injured rider trying to ride , but withdrawing . last season richardson at home to poole . this season davey  , home to wolves , ???????? .do hope not . heroes to zeroes , cannot understand why  . strange how it suddenly seems to occur after a particularly great performance . it is not just losing , it is how they lose . if denis ever appears he could be not only welcome , but needed .coventry are a very good team , but have lost two of their top five . another surrender is not acceptable . Sad now realise not buying a season ticket for the first time in seventeen years was probably a sensible idea . please prove me wrong . Question
ComeOnYouSpurs

Agree with you on this one Ray...

It's beginning to look uncannily like 2008 all over again.

Another poor performance tonight on top of last weeks defeat by Wolves and the poor effort at Ipswich could have a seriously adverse effect on tomorrows attendance at Arlington.

Let's hope that the management have learnt from last years dithering and that action is taken quickly to prevent the 2009 season slowly and painfully petering out.

yes cous , we love our " lilleywhites " but not in a speedway team .the russian didn't turn out too well at white hart lane , will we even see the one at arlington ?
ray

it's now 10.45 , over an hour since meeting ended . nobody has posted details ----- was it that bad ?!
ComeOnYouSpurs

No Ray... It was worse...

We lost 55-38

Lewis was injured in his third ride and withdrew from the meeting.

Davey ran 3 lasts or retirements in his 5 rides, but did manage to win a tactical ride.... but still not what you would hope for from a no.1.

For some reason Trevor failed to use a tactical ride when it was available in either heat 12 or 14, both of which we went on to win, therefore throwing away an extra 3 points.... not exactly inspired team management.

We only provided 4 of the 15 race winners.

It really is looking more and more like a repeat of the failings of last season all over again.... and those who predicted a last place finish for us in the Elite League could well be proved right. The way things are looking at the moment it's only going to be Belle Vue who save us from that embarrassment.

Scorers (with thanks to SpeedwayUpdates):

Davey - 7 from 5 rides (including tactical ride)
Lewis - 2 from 3 rides (withdrawn from meeting)
Cameron - 10+1 from 6 rides
Lukas - 7+1 from 5 rides
Ricki - 4 from 4 rides
Chris - 8+2 from 7 rides

Another very disappointing night.

Will be interesting to see how many turn up at Arlington tomorrow.

Of course... best wishes to Lewis... hope the injury isn't serious and he is able to ride in tomorrows meeting. Anyone got any news about him?
Jaytee

Mr Dugard I really wish you had the energy and youth to be in charge of this team like you used to be. I think it's obvious that we have had an ineffectual manager for far too long now. Wouldn't we welcome back Jon Cook with open arms. Sorry Trevor you are a gent but I'm afraid you are not the man for the job.

Please Bob can we get some effective and non-complacent management
Kevin54

According to "Next door" they report that Lewis went to hospital
with shoulder and leg injuries, no further news.

Seems as if Watt is far from fit either, he pulled up a couple of
times. If he had injured his groin as badly as was said, you do
NOT recover in a week, you are looking at around 5/6 weeks, so it
is not right for him to say he's fit when he isn't, we could have covered for him with a guest.

So. Peterborough tonight, Parker, get the leathers out and report
to Trevor in the pits, there will be a choice of bikes, just a shortage
of riders!!

be very intresting to see what team they can put out tonite . posts show concern that cous and i share about what happened last season . see our team manager has not improved . the enthusiasm and form of the team until last saturday didnot call for any team managing apart from switching reserves sometimes .now we need a team-manager , well we all knew what to expect if he had to try and make any decisions . number of injuries is scary and depressing , reminiscent of the season that cost floppy , deano , and ando . there seems to be so many more injuries with each season . these men are heroes ,but we do get upset when they are hurt , especially when we actually see it . suppose with the machinery getting faster all the time the tracks become even more dangerous to get round , still on the bike . there is the saying that  " speed kills " and the only safeguard in recent times is the air-fence . thank goodness for that , dare not imagine not having that . Sad

Travis McGowan is on stanby for tonight Ray, thats sure to please you, NOT.  Why is at that when other clubs get a injury they then find replacements straight away. Look at Swindon Troy brakes his hand on Thursday night and by Friday tea time they have got Zager in untill troy is fit again. Whilst im on the subject Nicholls in place of Allan at coventry hardly seems fair to me. Lets try are luck and get  Nicki in place of Norris

I'm afraid that for various reasons the season is rapidly falling apart at the seams.

URGENT and IMMEDIATE ACTION (I've deliberately used caps here because no-one at the club seems to know the meaning of these words) is required if something is to be salvaged from the wreckage.

In the last week Poole, Coventry and Swindon have all moved to either strengthen or cover for injuries.

We've done nothing except watch the situation get worse and allow an unfit no.1 to dictate whether he should or shouldn't ride when perfectly capable guests were ready to step in.

This has cost us a minimum of 2 points and probably something closer to 5 or 6, meaning that instead of challenging near the top of the league we are on a downward spiral towards the bottom.

From the outside it seemed that weak management was one of the major problems last year.... and nothing appears to have changed.

It's easy to manage when everything is going well, as at the beginning of the season, but the test comes when things get tough, and I've seen nothing to suggest that Trevor and co. are up to the job.

Very poor and very disappointing.... and I've got to say that I'm beginning to lose faith and enthusiasm.

Will I be turning up at Arlington tonight? .... Don't know yet.

sometimes nug you almost feel like shrugging your shoulders and walking away . so travis standing by for who ? davey or lewis ?so agree how well some teams are managed , since cook left , whatever we may think of him , it has gone from bad to worse team management wise . thought we had posted ourselves to a halt on this last season ----- then the excitement and euphoria  of the cup final made us forget . as said already we haven't needed a team manager this season until now ---- oh dear we had forgotten we don't have team management or manager . will we ever see the russian , broken promises and lies have been rather prevalent in the news lately . as you say other teams get their teams and individual riders sorted when any need arises --- which only goes to show us the defiiciences in our so-called professional and experienced organising .easy to realise the coventy's , poole's and swindon's are truly professional , with lakeside following on ,ours and belle vue's are not up to it as can be seen by their performances .oh for goodness sake what will have to change to change the situation????? Sad
