I for one am not surprised that Denis will not be joining the Eagles, I don't think he was ever that serious at racing over here. Think BD wasted too much time and effort in trying to get him over here instead should have tried to sign someone on a months loan or so then see how Floppy gets on. Good news is that Floppys arm is improving and may see him back sooner than expected.

To be honest I am not surprised either and am glad that Floppy will be back soon.

Can't say I am too impressed about changing the rules half way through the season but it had been muted on other forums so again it is not a great surprise.

So basically we must be in top four now.  It is feasible if last Saturday and the previous Wednesday are anything to go by.

I wonder which of the clubs voted against the original play-offs.  Sad Probably Coventry, Swindon, to name but two. So Sky had a say in this decision as well. Confused  I know we get money from them, but does it mean that we have to abide by what they want.  Question Part of the problem could be that we are doing so well, against the odds. Shocked As for the Russian most of us doubted he would be over.  Sad As far as I am concerned I hope he never gets the chance to ride here.  Exclamation

Just proves that the powers that be are totally incapable of running this sport any longer. Regardless as to whether 6 from 9 was right, they voted on it at the AGM, and to alter that half way through the season is total madness.

As for Cooks' comment, if he had bothered to attend the AGM when the decisions were being made, he may have influenced the vote otherwise.

And whilst I am at it, WHY did the club persist in this obsessive pursuit of the Russian?
"Told you so" springs to mind, he's unreliable and a waste of space.
I hope that this will prove once and for all to everyone at the club never to continue to try to get him over here.

June 10th 2009 - the day speedway finally lost any credibility as a "serious" sport.

Well said K54.  What a total waste of time and energy, and probably money, the Russian has proved to be.  Poor old Mr BD has been pursuing him for the best part of two years.  Meantime the other Russian with the even more difficult name is winning GPs.  As for the play off fiasco - another example of the Gordon Brown school of management.  If you have the choice of two decisions, be sure to make the wrong one - after months of agonising, of course.  As someone once said:  it's a mad mad world my masters,

Well I'm going to back them on this 1. I think the original rule of 6 teams in the playoffs was farcial anyway in a league of 9! Yes it makes it harder for us to get there but if your not good enough you dont deserve to be champions anyway. Personally I would scrap the playoffs to decide the league winners but with the revenue they produce I doubt the promoters would do that!

As for Dennis, why am I not surprised Rolling Eyes  was the move ever going to happen or was it a smokescreen to stop fans wanting a temp replacement for floppy?

I'm not a fan of playoffs personally but it seems to be one of Skys requirements for what ever sport they cover. Fancy finishing 6th in the league and then winning the play off hardly right to call ones self champions. The point is that they agreed this at the AGM however farcical it may have been but its obvious that it wasnt thought through enough and has now been scrapped half way through the season. This seems typical of the BSPA.

Can't see what all the fuss is about to be honest. The rule was probably changed to stop the cheetahs... sorry pirates making the playoffs (although I dont think they would have anyway) so thats good enough for me Laughing

BEING an anorak ive been looking into the reason given that denis is too busy to come, but  from what i can see  he is riding in russia in a mini league and riding in poland full time but thats it!! hes contracted to ride in sweden for Hammerby but hasnt been seen ,so why isnt he coming? Its a strange one you would have thought like zagar and others that he would want more meetings so i dont know, can anyone shed any more light on it?!!!

might be financial, the unfavourable tax rate for the Russians working over here. Only a suggestion but it has been mentioned as a reason before.
