better have a word with david then , though i do agree i am one of the guilty parties . daresay david will switch all this to a seperate thread . as a certain mr." winner " says , calm down dear it is only a commercial .
as for the kennett position , the last time i posted he was going to join coventry with the fee to be decided by arbitration through the bspa . whoever the other team was that wanted to buy kennet apparently could not fit him in this year and would loan him out . this seemingly enraged colin pratt . however it would seem that in all likelyhood kennett did not want to join them as there has been no news on even who the team were  .there was mention that the prospective buyers were to use one of their assets in part-exchange .opinions seemed to suggest it was either poole or lakeside . wonder if we will ever know ?!  anyway coventry are now the only team that could fit hom in . so it will go ahead , he obviously cannot be made to join a team  that he doesn't want to .assume coventry and eagles have to abide by the bspa valuation . Cool

me too . MD will know.  Very Happy . on that basis if poole were the other team involved then davey watt could be part of the deal . anyway , as posted , will we ever know ?. please refer to my earlier post , but if kennett wants coventry , then he will get it . Cool

Confirmed on the Bees Website that Ed has signed full time for Coventry with the fee being decided on April 7th.

I think the subject has just about been done to death, but I wish Ed all the best ( except against us Smile ).

only thing chris is that there is still nothing on the official website . another annoying thing on that website is at the bottom left of the page two features overlap making it impossible to read properly  Sad

Kennetts signing for the Bees is on the BSPA Website and in Coventrys line up. They look to have a strong side

that is known by us , we read the bspa and coventry websites , you will see i am referring to the official eastbourne site . yes bees look strong , have already posted my humble opinion that they look the strongest team , rather than swindon . but this year we are thought of as swindon were last year . so much for opinions and forecasts .
but without the expertise of obtaining serious sponsorship  and reaching out speading the word like poole , coventry and lakeside we were never going to afford a team stronger than this . hope agreed fee for kennett helps keep us afloat -- think this was part of the financial planning . this happens in all professional sport , assets have to be realised .
the team does look exciting , best of the old and new perhaps . we shall see , much will depend on floppy's fitness and the inspiration he can give to all .after the last two seasons i am keeping my fingers crossed - maybe eyes and legs too , if it will help . Rolling Eyes  Rolling Eyes mind you that cup final was a tremendous boost . started well[ at coventry ] and finished well [ at poole ] ,but problems at certain other times .

By Brian Owen »

Eastbourne Eagles want to keep hold of one of their top young assets, even though he will not ride for them this year.

Team GB speedway star Edward Kennett has been named by rivals Coventry Bees in their 2009 line-up after asking for a move from Arlington.

The rider’s transfer fee is due to be decided at arbitration on April 7.

However Eastbourne have now revealed they are willing to loan the 22-year-old Hailsham based racer to Coventry for a season.

Boss Bob Dugard had initially refused to lend Kennett to another club.

However he now fears the current mood for belt-tightening in speedway, as the sport battles the recession, will lead to a tribunal deciding Kennett can go at a modest price.

Dugard said: “I’ve been passed a message that Edward is quite willing to go on loan.”

Quote from Bees site:

Tuesday 24 February 2009
COVENTRY promoter Colin Pratt has confirmed that the transfer arbitration hearing for Edward Kennett will go ahead as planned on April 7.

Bees were surprised to read a recent report in the South coast press indicating that Eastbourne promoter Bob Dugard would now be prepared to let Kennett join Coventry on loan.

Pratt commented: "I assume this is another of the children's fairytales coming out of Eastbourne. Are they running a comedy show there?

"If they had been sensible in the first place and allowed Edward to go away for a year or two on loan as he had wanted, we wouldn't have got to this position.

"We couldn't do any more than we did, and when he came in on Friday he insisted again that he doesn't want to go on loan after all that has happened.

"His transfer request remains in place, and we have paid the fee to the SCB for the arbitration hearing. We won't be going back from there."

This farce as it has now become is beginning to make EB look stupid. I agreed with Bob about selling Ed who didn't seem to ever want to comit to the club but all the statements that have come out since is turning the whole situation into a farce.

colin pratt states on coventry website that the eastbourne management are running a comedy show . for once i agree with him . BD insisted on a full transfer , everything in place for value to be arbitrated by the bspa . it appears BD cannot " move the goalposts " this time . goodbye kennett , which is what BD intended . if he was only playing russian roulette he has just blown his brains out . nuthin' yet on our official site . mind you with the two left-hand columns overlapping it is impossible to read both .
you would expect our management to know the rules governing the transfer of riders . oh dear jacqui smith must be advising them  Sad  Embarassed  Embarassed

Its very sad when a home grown talent and family name to all eastbourne fans ends up like this.It would be very interesting to hear dave:s,gordons, and the rest of the Kennett family view on this. All had Eastbourne blood in them so its very strange as to what has happened to what has caused all this.If you asked me at the end of last season one name to pencil in after the season he had which was very good it would be Eddie.very strange

Sadly, the answer to Mr Pratt's question is no. Eastbourne are not running a comedy show.  It is a tragedy.

i agree , thought kennett had really made it and would be our priority signing , treading the path of the eagles greats . thought , and could understand if lewis had gone out on loan . what a ridiculous and uneccessary end , cannot see him returning as martin , david and deano did in that wonderful 1993 .it is sad when you lose those who are eagles by birth , but tragic when they are thrown away . ego and pride , never admitting when wrong , unable to say sorry , pride cometh before the fall . some people never learn , ok kennett wanted to go -- on loan , and had only just returned from poole , so i can understand how some felt about this , did myself . so not just one person at fault , but pratt is right , enough of fairy tales . what do we believe and trust after the number of these we have heard this year .still looking forward to the season very much , some great young riders , and the the return of floppy and deano , but it is not just what was done , it is the way it was done too  Sad

good post ray
just going back to the end of last season riders normally have a pretty good idea what they want to do next season, for the life of me i cant remember what eddie said, anyone remember? This rumour that eddie wanted to move to a bigger track doesnt really stack up as he rode well everywhere last season and dont forget qualified for cardiff through the british final at swindon!!!It will be interesting to see how his career moves on this season with him being at coventry.

good points there . The nature of speedway means that on occassions riders have to move whether they wish to or not usually due to the averages. I thought eddie had a good season and always felt he rode well even when guesting for other teams There must have been a reason why he wanted a season away on loan, maybe more money, maybe personalities we will probably never know. I just hope that those of us who gave Shield stick for leaving (me included)only much later to find out the full facts, bear this in mind when Eddie comes back with coventry and give him a good reception.
He always gave his best for us and I think hes earnt it.
