I would hope that there will be a good crowd on Saturday, at what could be our LAST MEETING. Crying or Very sad  All I hope is that our riders watch out for Batchelor, he seems to like tangling with riders on the first or second bend. Unfortunately the other riders are getting friction burns. Crump is the second rider it has happened to, i.e. Floppy when Batchelor rode for Swindon and now Crump riding against Ipswich. I do hope he is not badly hurt, as the next GP is only 11 days away. I do hope Simon is fit, has their been any news about him. Also who will be riding if Nermark is not fit, I do hope it is a good reserve. We need to win this one to get our revenge.  Wink

I'm bringing along a friend on Saturday who has been once before, to our recent defeat against Wolves.

He loved the atmosphere, the noise , the smell, the buzz. even the burger from Shelleys!!!.... but he wasn't impressed by the performance of The Eagles.

Hopefully we'll do better this time, cos if we survive he could become a regular in 2010.

Nothing to lose have we. Lets hope , that should it be our last elite meeting we do it in style. Tough bunch up your way Kevin if they can stomach Shelleys burgers. Laughing

First the good bit... Ricky Kling... what a transformation!! A while ago I was really laying into him as he went about a dozen rides without scoring a point... but now... whatever he's been having for breakfast over the last couple of weeks, I want some!!

Now the not so good... is anybody else as fed up as I am with hearing the constant namby pamby excuses from Davey Watt...

First he had a sore back...

Then his nasty mechanic ran away and left him all on his own...

And now the poor thing is an ickle bit too tired...

In the meantime of course his average has been falling like a stone, doing no harm at all to his chances of being offered a team place for the 2010 season.

Like nug... I feel that he should never be allowed to wear an Eagles race suit again. He's been a disgrace over the last few meetings.

What a great example for our captain and no.1 to be setting for the younger members of the team.

Even Kevin Coombes sounded like he's had just about enough of him!

I wait with baited breath for someone to attempt to put forward a case for the defence!!

As one of those mamby pamby that although accepting that Davey Watts actions were totally unprofessional declined to accept that he was deliberately reducing his average to ensure a favourable spot in a team next season. In the past he has been a good servant to this club, but I would have to agree with the last 2 posts I dont think even if he was available he should wear the Eagles colours again. but if the present management team remain in place I could see him riding again. I cannot understand why the management  continued to let it go on, other than the possible financial implications but more so keeping him as team captain. To be honest last nights meeting reflected our season in so much as on very few occassions did the whole team step up to the mark.I went to the last away meeting with Lakeside Ricky performance was abysmal and I jeered him since that meeting hes been an absolute revalation to the extent that along with Simon he was our best rider last night, Cameron and to some extent Ales Dryml could escape criticism for losing a meeting we should have won. I thought our 3 heat leaders failed miserably. Finally seems from what BD said on the centre green that there is some reason for optimism in regards next season.

my thoughts exactly parker . never mind about "lady in red , what about "rider in red "  , 15 heats -- 1 win . must be a new and most unwelcome record . davey , you all have said it all , he and his bike were both unfit for the meeting , arrived late so just for once perhaps the management cannot be blamed for being unable to manage . but surely they should sure he has a mechanic , even if they have to take that expense from his winnings , as without one he will not have any winnings . neither side seem to have the common sense to realise that , belle vue were able to get davey a mechanic , but our lot cannot ?!  Shocked  Confused  as for other two heatleaders , lewis's machinery was again uncompetative-- and that with a whole team there with him . lukas was riding with injury from poland and his bike was slower than ales' to begin with . but his last two heats were magnificent [ yes our riders can gate sometimes but not often enough ] and he won wearing a blue helmet , " riders in blue " won 6 heats , another record ?
how many times have we had a reasonable lead only to throw it away this season , so many times , we get to dread heats after the interval .mind you heat13 was totally amazing , on paper and on the night it had to be a 5-1 against us --- our pair gated and rode the race of their lives . fantastic stuff . heat 14 , again ricky terrific even as nichols attempted to force him into the fence , to our yells of anger  , so our out-of-form reserve was beating a GP rider , we loved it , unfortunately nichols got by on the last lap . but the original start of heat 14 , both our riders left at the gate , and again in heat 15 . lewis could only manage to take simon , the ippo pair were far too good for him .
but as already posted there were some special riders and events , simon lifted us as usual and ricky was brilliant , oh yes , and his machinery was up for it too . apparently he has been unwell with a virus and had only told simon , what was the point of telling the team manager anyway , doubt he even noticed . well he had to put ricky into heat 13 , no prizes for that . ales , amazing , shame about his fall in 12 , as otherwise we would still won the match , but willnot blame him . he has never ridden arlington like that before . well done family dryml .lukas really wants to be back next season ---- well who knows what if anything will be happening then . a saddening thought , but it simply couldnot carry on as it was regardless . think we all realise that .the unprofessionalism , disorganisation and lack of any real leader on or off the track has seen 7 home defeats , another unwelcome record it would appear .
i know at least 3 friends/fans who have lost their jobs and simply cannot afford to attend regularly anymore , they are the ones that have have my sympathy and understanding .so there are several reasons attendances have declined mentioned already .finally ippo deserved to finish above us in the league , 3 wins and a draw out of 4 . 'nuff said .well the experts were wrong , we didn't finish bottom , and poole were below us . have to try and be positive sometimes . Rolling Eyes

Cookie not coming.. unfortunately as it was the last time under his management we made a profit.  There appears some interest or tho nothing concrete but if the Elite League is restructure there is the possibility that this interest could come to fruition.
Were you not there then MD ?

No I didnt go, I had an operation 5 weeks ago and I was told 8 weeks before I can do much. I did go up to Arena for the Lakeside Eagles meeting and was told that it put me back by about a week   Embarassed  so I will be at Arlington on the 10th, I take it they used the fan replacemnt facility for me last night (F/R)  ....  Laughing

As regards next year, I dont think anybody is too sure of what may happen with a lot of teams in the Elite or what structure we may have in place but as I have always said, I think we should see a side at Arlington in 2010...

in the grandstand we couldn't hear what BD was saying , but seemed nothing in the offing , and he is suprised , but would support any new promotion . what support he would offer was not clear .think he said trevor was willing to stay on .  we have posted enough on that particular subject  but nobody seemed to cheer or show enthusiasm . Wink
have to wait and see what the bspa have to say about next year , but sky deal is covering elite league , though premier were also shown .think sky will state want they want and bspa will have to listen and co=operate . Idea  Rolling Eyes
wish you a full and rapid return to full health mark . we will not be going on 10th , that seemed an awfully long drive home last night , be a while before we would repeat that .  Exclamation only half a team produced the goods again ,so we are not exactly up for anymore of that . has to be more for the time trouble and expense involved for two .support has to be a two-way deal , from us and for us .
