This match might find us out imo. Sad  Adam and Lee will probably score well and their second strings look very decent too.
Their reserves look characteristically EL standard though - ie  woefully poor  Laughing so that's where we might have a huge advantage.
However any home win will be good. I can't see us retaining the trophy.
Hope I am totally wrong though.

Summed it up nicely there. This is a really tough test early on. There top 5 looks good so we must all perform to get through this.

Didnt Lee want to concentrate abroad and initially decided to give this league a miss. It is also alledged that he cost us more than Nicki Pedersen in his last season... I say alledged. Personally I think we will give agood account of ourselves over the Two legs against Lakeside

I agree with you parker...

I think both legs will be pretty close with no more than an 8 point difference in either, and like last seasons semi final it could come down to a last heat decider.

I too believe the 2009 Eagles will put on a good show and that the results will be very close.

Roll on Saturday.  Cool

hope so . parker is right to a degree about lee , but we still could have considered him ,even now , but lakeside have three great riders from us , though lee was only on loan .we shall have to see how they score against us , but at pity that quite a few excellent riders have been driven away , probably kennett too . others who are not our assets seem to be treated better , davey , for example .maybe they don't get bullied and are treated with calmer consideration . Sad

Davey was dropped in favour of Scott/Lee last year and was without a team until Poole had second thoughts.

Totally agree.  The promoters have no understanding of dealing with people.  They are treated as assets ie non tangible and something you buy and sell [ or in some cases loan ]

Until the points limit is scrapped.... or at least set at a reasonable total..... unfortunately it will always be that way.

yes cous , but if you can be considerate and polite , hopefully others will act the same . you can part without recrimminations , and when you meet again you can still smile and shake hands  but then we all know some who do not have this within themselves .  those are the ones we are allowed to treat that way too  Laughing  Razz

The nature of Speedway with the averages etc doesnt instill loyalty, either with promoters and riders, you just have to judge them on how well they performed for the team and give them the reception they earnt when riding against us. For example Eddie he always gave his best for us and should have agood reception when he comes back, he fell out with Bob not us Fans. We all now know the facts concerning Shields and had those facts been made known earlier Im sure some of us would have reacted to him differently. As for the 2009 team we have a team as good as most and it appears a good spirit as well, we just need to stay injury free. No doubt some riders will ride away tracks better than others but we just have to get behind the whole team. Forget about how riders were or were not treated thats history now. We had a good result last Sunday ifwe manage to come away with the trophy tomorrow what a confident start to the season.

Perhaps the answer would be to do away with Assets and have riders as free agents signed on one season contracts. Anyway getting back to the thread that Ray has steared us away from Wink  I think we will turn the spanners over by 6-8pts at home and continue our defence of the KOC 2009 Very Happy
