So, with the cameras due on Monday, "Lady luck" is conspiring to dump on our parade, and possibly embarress us Sad

Simon - out with a broken collarbone.
Floppy - possibly out with a back injury, and if he does ride, will he be fully fit?
Davey - pulled out at Lakeside with a possible injury; I trust he gives Poland a miss this week-end as a precaution.

After such a good start to the season we should view this as a temporary, though galling, setback.
Hopefully with a combination of R/R and a decent replacement for one of the others, (if necessary), we should have enough to send Swindon packing.
The most damaging aspect is the injury to Simon, but as they say, "When the going gets tough, the tough get going".
Time for the others to step up to the plate and cover for their injured team-mates!!

All teams suffer injuries at some point in a season, so nows the time a team manager steps up to the mark. We've had a fairly good start to the season considering we were supposed to be the whipping boys in the league and it would be easy to get into a bad run as we did during Bob Brimsons reign. Hopefully a good replacement guest will be sought should Davey not be fit in time, Shields would be ideal. Take it R/R for Floppy? Think a win will be tough against Swindon but not impossible.

I have posted on the Lakeside thread about Dave's injury and from what I hear I am sure he will be fit for Monday, if not, then Parker who's mind have you been reading?  Wink

Just when things were going so well, along come the injuries. What have the Eagles done so that Lady Luck turns her back on us. Question  Just spoken to Floppy's dad and it is a possibility that he could be out for two weeks. He huirt his back in the fall at the last home meeting. If Davey Watt cannot ride I hope we will get a decent replacement. i.e. How about Lee Richardson, he is going well. Wink

Kev... when you created the title to include the word Epic, I bet you didnt expect it to be quite as literate as it turned out to be eh? Great effort from all the boys in particular Watty for riding through the pain barrier and Cam for that last heat alone. I cant ignore Lewis's efforts also. I just hope that the walking wounded get fixed soon. I think getting Denis in for Blunsdon will have to be an important must now!

Bloody hell, what a night! Fantastic victory after the opening two 5-1 reversals.

Cam's victory in ht 15 was as good as it gets, breath taking. Well done one and all, very proud!

What a meeting, it had everything. The boys did us proud, it was an epic meeting. Cameron's ride in heat 15 was absolutely marvellous.  Smile Who would have thought he would have beaten Leigh Adams.  Shocked The team certainly deserved all three points. Hope the news on all the walking wounded is not as bad as we feared. I know Floppy has gone to hospital for treatment, I heard he had a suspected broken arm. I am sure all Eagles fans wish them all the best.

That heat 15 by Cam ranks in my top 5 speedway moments of all time. Absolutely fantasic. As for the rest of the meeting what the hell happend there Shocked  I still cant believe it now. Just hope all are not too badly injured and lets hope for a few rain offs now to give us time to sort out a team!

Well, what can one say from a meeting like that?

Firstly a sincere hope that all the wounded are swiftly back to fitness, hopefully the early report on Floppy is not true, but he was heard saying in the pits "It's broken" Sad .

How both Fisher and Pavlic were not badly hurt is amazing, Cam likewise when he got "run over".

Batchelor should have been chucked out of the rest of the meeting, b*****d! Admitted he saw the red light, ignored it and goes on to swing his back wheel right into Floppy, with the result we all know. Gets interviewed in the pits and does not even express any concern for him Evil or Very Mad

Mind you, what about the last race??
Should give Cameron the "Freedom of Arlington" for that, absoloutely brilliant do-or-die effort.

The change in Rossiter was brilliant, from a cocky "we've got the 5 -1 and a point" smugness to "head in the hands" despair Exclamation  Exclamation  Laughing

Now to go to Swindon Shocked
I believe there may be an advert in the local paper today......."Anyone with motorcycling experience, apply to Mr B Dugard, Arlington Stadium.  Needed Thursday"

Wonderful headline in the Argus today "Cameron the hero on a night of high drama". It was wonderful to see Rossiter go from high delight to one of despair. Cam caught Adams and McGowan napping. They were so sure that they were going to get some points. This was Cam at his best. Very Happy  The only downside to the meeting is the injuries, Floppy nursing a broken arm?, Lewis having stitches in his leg and Davey with his groin and arm.It was like a battlefield, but the bravest won. Perhaps we should get somebody to drive the "evil spirits" away. The other side of the coin is that I know all fans will hope that Stojanowski is not as badly hurt as we feared. It was a terrible crash, and all Eagles fans will wish him the best. Once again WELL DONE THE LADS, you all showed true fighting spirit. A mention must be made about Chris Schramm, he is truly becoming one of the Eagles, a good signing. Razz  Very Happy

A brilliant meeting and sorry I could not be there but I watched it on Sky this morning.

As said already, I hope all the injured recover quickly.

By the way the Argus report is on our front page.

In a night of carnage, the sheer bravery of both teams, but especially the 'Eastbourne Dugard Walking Wounded Eagles' was inspiring. It was a privilege to witness such commitment. Shocked

Absolutely fabulous our Cams Heat 15 pass worth the entry fee alone. Good win, Good crowd for a Sky meeting credit to the promotion, shame that the unfortunate injuries to both sets of riders meant  that many with kids at school had left the stadium before Cameron ensure maximum points. but for the cold wind it was a great night and hey what about those pole dancers Laughing

almost like a james bond movie , but much better , and it really happened to prove what is actually possible .one man we seem to have forgotten , the referee, chris gaye .now that is a real referee , always good , but this time almost as amazing as what else took place .incidentally did the on-the-night concessions help with the attendance , what was it ? but those with youngsters who had to leave before the end would doubtlessly have seen the repeats on sky today . as many have so rightly said , after an initial meeting like that those present or watching on tv will go again . but now the sad part , the wounded heroes , updates please

An incredible nights speedway... can't remember ever being to a meeting anything like it before... and I've been to a few I can tell you!

First things first... good luck and best wishes to all the wounded heroes... from both sides... but specially to Floppy and Stojanowski who seemed to get the worst of it.

Brilliant result... a big well done to all the boys in blue and yellow.

And Cameron... wow... if there's a better ride anywhere this season I hope I get to see it! Magnificent.

Didn't get home till 1.30... just in time to see the second half of the re-run of the meeting on Sky... still can't work out how Cameron did it.

Take a bow that man!!

Brilliant riding by all of our riders & how the hell did Cam pull that one off?

and hey what about those pole dancers Laughing[/quote]

PARKER did you see the one in white, she must have been at least 17 foot tall with those shoes on!!!When i watched the sky re run they didnt feature at all, where as at the GPs their blowing kisses to the camera.I think i know why there were so many crashes at Eastbourne, the riders were spell bound with stars in their eyes looking at the dancer in white!!!!!
