I cant believe that all day on Sussex radio and then tonights bbc southeaest news Bob Dugard pops up sending out an sos to save speedway at Arlington, if only he could of got on the radio and tv during the season things could be different now.
quite likely listeners think ---- what speedway ? what is speedway ? agree in some ways he seems to have realised what should have been done , and worth a try anyway . just so sad it took so long .maybe it will do some good , sincerely hope so . he would miss his saturday tractor riding and track preparation . now he has always been excellent at these .
The way I listern to it on tv he sounded that the Eagles was a waste of space and seem to be glad to see them go. I hope that we do get someone in the hot seat for next season but the only way is lower league racing which every fan is talking about. I rather see Premier League or National League racing than the Eagles dying out. Like I think Scott Nicholls said " Once a team closes the doors for a season it normally shut for good." _________________ The mighty Eastbourne Eagles
I agree with the last 2 posts I thought BD's comments were negative to say the least It was if "youve got money to throw away be the Eagles new promoter" _________________ A Founder Member of the Home Straight Lukas Dryml Appreciation Society!
I actually contacted the BBC several months ago to ask why Eastbourne did not get any air time on South East today. I wrote to Beverley Thompson who was presenting the show at the time and she kindly replied.
Basically she said there was no demand from viewers to see Speedway on the tv and so they didn't report it. No one from Eastbourne Speedway had been in contact with them so we never got on.
I am no marketing expert but I bet with a few more persistant phone calls I might have persuaded them to give the club a chance.
No wonder the club is the mess its in, do we have anyone with a sense of marketing and a bit of tact that could really do the club a favour, it seems not
what lemmings we've had .they should be ashamed of themselves , but it takes decency , commom sense and manners to admit to a mistake . it is the sign of a decent and thoughtful person , someone who cares .
reminds me of the old saying " i used to be conceited , but now i am perfect ".
